I've never had this problem before flu season this year! I have a two-year-old and I babysit one other child during the day.

This year, it seems like myself and the children have been sick all winter. (Flu, cold, sinus infection, strep throat, gastrointestinal infection. No joke.)

I keep a very tidy house. We use anti-bacterial wipes on everything, buy lysol by the case it seems, wash my hands constantly.

Our diet is excellent, for the most part. Lot's of fresh fruits, veggies, raw nuts, whole grains, yougart products. We don't have any allergies to speak of.

I just can't figure out why we have all been SO sick this year. The doctor and pediatrician say it's just bad luck.

Sounds like you might be a little to germ free. It's great to have a clean house etc. However use regular soaps not germ free stuff. When one is killing germs they are killing the good germs as well as the bad germs.
Doctors would rather a person use an antibacterial ointment then peroxide. Peroxide gets rid of the good and bad germs.
If we take all the germs out of our environment when the germs are introduced again even the slightest germ which normal doesn't bother most people it will hit someone who system isn't building antibodies against it.
When the kids go to the doctors for vaccinations they are normally given the dead virus in order to build up antibodies in their system so they can fight the virus.

You may have a silent allergy. Sometimes the only symptom is a weak immune system.

And try laying off the anti-bacterial stuff and the lysol. Wash your hands a co6063
uple times, contantly isnt needed. My hands only get washed the 2 or 3 times/day i do dishes and we havent been sick in over 6 months.

Its good to get exposed to some germs and bacteria.. it gives your immune system a workout. It may be weak, simply for the lack of use. KWIM?

You can try adding some whole-food supplements... cod liver oil is a good one. (mix it in with your yogurt!)

Welcome to toddlerhood.

Personally, I would lay off on the obssession with anti-bacterial wipes and cases of lysol. Washing hands is good, decontamination from fecal matter is good...but an overly-sanitized environment will make you and your child more susceptible to germs. Exposure to germs and getting sick is essential for your child's developing immune system.

As the old saying goes, whatever doesn't kill you will make you stronger.

Oh that is frustrating! I hate to say it but kids are GERM magnets!!! It doesn't matter how clean you keep your house they will touch dirty things and put nasty things in their mouths. I know I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old and we have been sick a lot this winter also.I have been taking zinc lozenges when I start getting sick and it sometimes helps. And I have also tried airborne Jr. for my kids- I think it helps but it could just be wishful thinking. :) Good luck to you!!

have you all been getting enough sleep ? the sleep cycle is when the body repairs itself and if you arent getting enough zzz's your body will stay sick . your just not able to fight the germs fast enough .
plus when you touch someone that is sick and then touch your eyes , nose , or mouth ,before washing your hands ,you are putting their germs in your own body ,so when my kids are sick i wash my hands immediately after handling them ... so i dont get sick too ! hope this helps you out .

Look for mold, under sinks, in bathroom. Make sure you don't have any water damage anywhere. My friends dishwasher overflowed and water got under the linoleum and for months they were sick and finally realized there was mold because of it.

It sounds like you're as clean and germ-free as possible. It probably just is bad luck.
