Don't make a big deal out of it, and soon he will be off to something else. At this stage and for some time to come, he'll be experimenting with sounds, habits, watching you and mimicking what you and Dad do. Right now, spitting is fun, and it must have garnered some attention. Some of it may be teething, but spitting and having it run down his chin may be ugh to you, but he thinks its okay.

He just likes to experience the feel and fun of it! This is normal....don't make too much of it....just wipe his chin and put a bib on him. If he resist the bib, tell him gently that when he stops "getting his shirt wet, we will take off the bib". He is probably old enough to understand that. Then when he spits again, say " see, you are getting your shirt wet". Wipe his mouth and go on to something else. Try not to let him know it is bothering you....he will just continue to get your attention. Try rewarding when he trys to control his spitting. Praise him. It will soon stop....just don't worry about it. Believe me there are more serious things he could be doing. Take care.

is he spitting or drooling?
drooling is normal at his age especially if he is teething and he probably doesnt realize it is happening. even if he does, he is a bit young to know what to do about it!
my daughter was a drooler.
we just bought her a bunch of bibs and she wore them prettyu much all the time. i would change them as they got too wet.

It probably has to do with teething. It is a normal and usual thing. You might try putting a bib on him. It is not really spitting, it is drooling.

discipline him
slap his mouth gently so he knows where the offence is coming from
say no spitting then put him in time out or spank his butt if he does it again
time out works wonders for my daughter
1 minute per year of age

I guess you could try some thick bibs.you would still have to change it every so often. There really isn't much you can do to make him stop,at leased not that I know of.You might have to just wait until he grows out of it himself.Good luck keeping him dry.The best of luck to you and your baby.
