Hello parents. I have been a nanny for 3.5 years for the same family. I disagree with ALOT of things but I follow the rules of the house regardless of how much I disagree with them...
9 year old son stayed home "sick" from school yesterday. His friend was supposed to come home on the bus with him but since he was sick it got messed up. 9 year old asked me if we could go pick his friend up from school to which I replied "I don't think it's right for him to come over if you're sick. You have a cough and he has asthma so it probably isn't a good idea."
Later my boss called and told me to let the friend come over still!!! 9 year old was now suddenly feeling better!!After that the friends mom called and said she didn't want him over if 9 year old was sick (I agree with her whole-heartedly) so she left work early to come and pick him up.
9 year old is home again today sick and playing the video game he rented ALL DAY!

Is it crazy to let him have a friend over when he stays home sick?

Why are so many parents against spanking their children when they misbehave? Spanking does not have to equate to abuse. It is not a form of abuse. It is a form of discipline. For those of you who do not spank your children, what form of discipline do you use? Timeouts can only go so far. After a child learns that they can act up, get sent to the naughty corner for five or ten minutes, and go back to doing the same thing they were doing before – it’s pointless. They learn that there is a short punishment for their behavior. As they get older, taking things away from them (video games, phone, priviledges) doesn’t work. They get to a point to where they don’t care – especially teenagers. With some kids spanking doesn’t work all the time, but in a lot of cases it does.

I notice people are suggesting parents should teach their children from a very young age about sex. I have a 1yr old girl & she's so innocent, i'm not naive to think she'll stay that way forever but talking to her about sex at 4yrs old seems a bit extreme.Children naturally start to explore their bodies at a young age, this doesn't relate to sex in my opinion, its a solo act & is natural.I don't think i need to sit her down & tell her about masturbation, it would have made me ill if my parents had done that.
I think if you tell a child about sex they'll become interested in it, you should wait for signs or when they start asking you questions & answer it in an appropriate way for their age. Why not encourage them to be into sports, dance & music etc.
I think the birds & bees chat should be when they are closer to being a teenager & puberty kicks in, anyway until they are teenagers your not going to let them be alone with the opposite sex so whats the hurry?

my son is over a yr old and still only sleeps about 20 minutes at a time from midnight to 6, and has an hour nap in the late morning. (the doctor says he's fine)
My family is all saying I need to leave him cry it out for a few days, and that seems wrong, but frankly Im so tired I doubt my ability to judge.
Any advice?
Thanks

Why it is that people think that children must be vaccinated to enter school? All 50 states have waiver forms for either religious, medical, or philosophical reasons. If a waiver form is signed then children do not need the immunizations, and the school cannot say anything that would keep the child from going to school!!!!!

I have three kids that range in 8yrs old, 4yrs, and 3mos. My husband just recently got laid off from his job. We live in vancouver and his family is in Texas. We are thinking about moving back to Texas so his family can help out with the children. I'm unsure if it's right to make our kids switch schools. We would only be down there until he gets called back to work. then we would come back to Vancouver. I can see why it's scary for them to move, but at this point I'm really unsure what to do. any advice???

I split with my sons father the day i was due.16 months ago because he was a dropkick and wouldnt get a job or get anything for the baby, i got away with not putting him on the birth certificate so he doesnt pay maintenance (even if he did it would be jack all coz he is on the dole) but if i ask for a few dollars he will lend it to me, and he used to see my son once a week with me there, but he hasnt wanted to see him for a month
anyway i have started seeing someone and my ex found out now he wants to file for joint custody or something, he has bipolar and can get pretty violent that is why he has never once been left alone with my son because i am scared he will do something,
i know he is just doing it because he wants to hurt me,
will he get any form of visitation and can i refuse for my son to be dna tested?
i am just bugged because everytime something good happens something bad always follows.
i do not trust him not to run off with my son either just by things he has said b4

I say grandparents should not have to raise their own grandchildren but some do.. Some shiftless adult children have them and then leave them for their parents to take care of
Some adult children say if mom and dad dont want me to give them up to a foster home thats their problem. Ill keep having them and leave them on their parents doorsteps.

Do/ did you vaccinate your children? Why or why not?
(NO FLAMING, this is NOT an abortion debate)
(and yes, they have something to do with one another)
Some vaccines are made by passing the bacteria/virus through aborted fetal tissue. Some of that tissue also ends up in the vaccine that is then injected into our children.

I have been babysitting about 4 times a week since my grandaughter was 2 onths old. My daughter was trying to go to school and work ,and being a single teen parent I felt it was my duty to help her. Should I have charged her for this? I LOVE my granddaughter sooooo much I have to see her every day or it just is not as good a day as it could be. Am I helping her or hurting her?

She thinks i cannot say anything to her. She disrespects me. She disrespects her step dad. Yet, I have no choices. BY law i am legally responsible for her and now her child. I get the formula, take child back and fourth to daycare. I have md appts. etc.. I also have to son's . She threatens me with not going to school. Because she knows that i am legally responsible for that. She wants me to kick her out or take her crap. She is way to immature to have had a baby. She is good one on one with her daughter. She is so verbally abusive to everyone in household. What can i legally do?

It was at a birthday party and he had a toy that I wanted so I bit him in the back. Yes, I know it was wrong but I felt no remorse at the time, my mom did not like what I did so she bit my finger to show me what it was like to be bitten, she also asked if I liked being bit and she showed me how the boy felt. Do you think that was correct of her? Now that I think back it seems logical to me. What do you think?

Just when you did something bad. Do you think it made you a better person now as an adult? Do you think it was the best thing for you at the time? Other than what those soft parents did, No offense to anyone who's parents didn't really discipline them.
