More what I'd expect from a 6yo, but very funny.
Will he still covet it when he's 70?
I have a 14yo stepson with autism comes out with crackers like that. Not to be funny, but because he wants to know. It can be hard not just to fall about with laughter when he's deadly serious.

I'm sure he's just curious about death and thinking about it. He knows that everyone dies one day, and he just really likes his dad's phone. It's not a big deal, I remember asking my grandparents for their house when I was that age. It's normal, don't worry.
Oh, and your son probably doesn't realize that his dad's phone won't be cool in 50 years. He's just now discovering what cool is. Maybe his dad should let him use his phone more often. It will make him happy and respect his father more.

He's an 11 year old boy. What do you expect??? Don't worry, my brother is 7 and he asks the same questions. They don't know any better. Just tell him NOT TO say that because its not nice. I know, it's odd hearing little kids talk about dying.
~hope my answer helps

Umm.... is this a question or a statement about how you spent your sunday with your optimistic son ? Your son doesn't even realize that the phone he wants will be outdated and retro by the time he gets one...

As a teenage kid I'm pretty positive that your child was joking( expensive phone??lol). I know I ask my dad if he is working hard to make my inheritance worth something.

Can't say I see anything wrong with saying something like this. Was he joking? If not just give him a quick word that its not really that nice to ask people for things after they die.
Kids will be kids....

I would have said "sure why not, I won't need it anymore but you would be the first one that I would want to have it". Remember after all he is only 11.
