It was at a birthday party and he had a toy that I wanted so I bit him in the back. Yes, I know it was wrong but I felt no remorse at the time, my mom did not like what I did so she bit my finger to show me what it was like to be bitten, she also asked if I liked being bit and she showed me how the boy felt. Do you think that was correct of her? Now that I think back it seems logical to me. What do you think?

That's the way my mom thought it should be taught, too.

Personally, when it came around with my kids, I couldn't get around the 'two wrongs don't make a right' idea. Biting someone is wrong. So, doing it myself just would have made me wrong, too.

Instead, I told my son to bite his own arm, to see how it feels. He did. He learned. He felt bad about having hurt someone & we apologized & made amends. I helped him think of more polite ways to express his frustration in the future.

That is what most child experts told parents to do back then. I have been lucky with my son. The only time he bit me was when he was getting his 4 "Eye teeth" in at the same time. I just put my finger to his lips and said "NO BITING" in a stern voice.

I don't think it was wrong. You never bit anyone again did you? LOL! I remember this same thing happened to me only I actually bit my Dad. I was probably 5, and he bit me back. Of course lesson learned. I never bit again.
