If you do a google search for yeast infections you will find that there are two main kind of bacteria in your intenstines. One is the friendly kind and the other is yeast. The two keep each other in check very well, until something like an antibiotic is introduced which kills all of the friendly bacteria, thus allowing the yeast to run wild and multiply. This creates yeast infections. So to help this problem you should deal with the problem on the inside as well as the outside.
Yogurt contains the acidophilus that you need (friendly bacteria), also you can buy powder acidophilus. We purchased some at the health food store and put a 1/4 tsp. in her bottle once a day. She had never had a yeast infection until she had one antibiotic. That was 3 months ago and the pharmacist at the apothocary store told me that it would take about 3 months for her intenstines to get back to normal (pre-antibiotic). I wish that I could have prevented that first one. You can take this anytime that you are taking an antibiotic and for a while afterward.
I do know that there is seperate powder that is specifically for children, so check with a health food store....unfortunaetly not all doctors are knowledgable about treating things the healthy way with medication when posible.
one more thing, once when me older daughter was still in diapers, she had an awful one and nothing seemed to help until a friend suggested pouring milk of magnesia on her diaper area. It disapeared very quickly! There are other causes of yeast infections listed on the website below. Hope this helps.

Don't know her age but have her drink cranberry juice or, if she's able to swallow pills, give her a cranberry pill every day.
My grand daughters had the same problem; she always thought they looked so cute in jeans - the jeans were creating the problem - they hold in too much heat and they were too tight. The girls, when old enough to say 'NO' finally told her to STOP buying the jeans because they did NOT like them.

My daughter gets respiratory infections often and as a result of the antibiotics often gets yeast infections as a result. Her pediatrician prescribes Nystatin cream and it works great.

My daughter got them a lot as an infant, as did I as a baby too. My mom kept telling me to just use zinc oxide cream. It's the main ingreident in diaper rash cream, but by itself it's much better. It worked like a charm. All my friends swear by it too. You can get it at Walgreens.
