I am 17 years old in school and works part time, my son is 8 months old and currently lives with me at my mother's house. The father is 24 and lives in another state 8 hours away, he has a history of drug use and had just recently got out of jail right after my son was born for endangerment to a minor or child, (something like that). He wants to be in his son's life and i had told him he could come see his son ANYTIME he wants, but he claims i'm keeping him from his son because i won't let him come take my son out of state to be with him for a week. What I really want to know is: If i bring him to court for sole custody of my child with vistitation rights do u think i will get it OR is there a chance that he could get joint custody?
Any advise or personal experiences with child custody battles?

They're at my house 4 days out of the week with their dad for about the last 2 months. Everything has gone very well and up until last night they've seemed very happy with the move.
later though, they were acting up and when they went to bed they were screaming about wanting to go to mommy's. I feel really bad and I hope they still like staying with me. Do you think they really mean it?

I want my kids to understand the true meaning of Christmas. I want to tell them that santa is make believe, but there is no problem "pretending." In my family, the youngest of my siblings is 17, and we STILL pretend there is santa, with my parents leaving out unwrapped gifts. I don't want there to be any trust issues between my children & I. I don't want the day to come where they find out that santa isn't real, and know that I told them he is. I don't want them to think, "Well, is Jesus real???"

My son is just a little over 6 months old and I am having the worst trouble trying to get him to sleep through the night. Putting him to bed isn't a problem at all, its keeping him asleep Im having trouble with. He used to wake up every 2 hours, NOW he wakes up every 20 - 45 min! All through the night! Ive tried Tylenol, ive tried warm baths, Ive even tried 3-4oz of Camomile Tea mixed with his bed time bottle. Naps arent as bed durring the day, he sleeps anywhere from 45 min- 2 hours at each nap which are2 times a day, maybe 3! Teething is an option but would it really make him get up every 20 - 45 min? Ive tried letting him cry for 5-20min incrimants at a time as well. Im lost! Please help!

You are the parent of a 16-year-old boy. You come home unexpectedly and find your door ajar. Inside, you discover your son’s friend looking through a kitchen drawer. The boy says he is looking for a paper and a pencil so he can leave your son a note. On the counter next to him is a lock-pick and some of your jewelry and he smells of marijuana. You tell the boy to leave immediately and he does. What would you do?

my son is 11 and spends hours drawing and sketching and thinking that he is really good at art. The fact is, he's not. He is absolutely useless. I have never discouraged him and always give him positive feedback. I am also happy that he's drawing rather than causing trouble on the street. But, he openly and confidently says that his work is good and that he wants to do something in art and design when he gets older.

How do I tell him he's cr@p with out knocking his confidence?

I am pregnant and have a full time job. I want to stay at home with my child after it's born. What are good ways to make a pretty steady income by staying at home. Telemarketing? I don't want to do surveys and make 30 bucks here and there. Please tell me about your personal experiences.

Where do you get the silly notion that its a parents job to teach sex ed and not teachers?

Im sorry how is it different to chemistry, biology, history, maths, or french lessons other then everyone will do it, be compelled to do it, hurt if they dont do it and its a bigger part of life them most things including having your own family eventually.
And the strongest feelings are part of it

You need to get a dictionary and look up the word teacher those who cant grasp this simple notion

teacher
ergo to er teach.
with teaching boards
teaching tools
teaching videos
professional teaching qualificiations
teaching experience
in a teaching institution
with teaching aids
teaching books
teaching hand outs
with teaching models
The ability to afford teaching field trips,

etc etc... why is that to hard for you to get?

parents should help like they should help with all homework;

And make sure they are leaning everything but you cant trust them as most are useles

My best friend has fostered 3 sisters for the past 5 years. They recently applied to adopt the children, I don't know all the details of the court hearing, but the judge awarded custody back to the biological parents! It's such a travesty, the girls were sexually and physically abused most of their lives, and they screamed when they had to leave my friend and her hubby. How do they cope with this, and what can I say to them? We're all shocked, everyone was positive that they would be able to adopt them.

My 8 year old son will not pee at school and holds it all day. Today when I picked him up I had to get some shopping done. We live 20 minutes from town so going home first would have been unreasable. After about an hour he started crying saying he had to go bad. I took him to the bathroom, but he refused to go saying it will not come out. I finished up the shopping and took him home which took another hour. On the ride back he was in horrible pain. I asked him when was the last time he went and he said when he woke up at 7:00 am! When we got home at 5:30 he peed for a minute and a half. I asked him why he will not go away from home and he says he just can not get it to come out. So it looks like he has a shy bladder. Anyone elses kids hold it all day. Have you ever had an issue with them going in public. I always thought he just had a big bladder since he never had to go. The poor thing has been walking around with a full bladder all those times.

2)she blames everything wrong she does on her imaginary friends, and she would not admit that she did those things? Any suggestions?

My mom and dad foster children. They currently have 2 foster kids, twins, and they both have FAS. The boy has it the worst and can not talk, needs sleeping pills, daytime pills, constant supervision, etc. The girl seems like she is normal but has a bad attention span and is very difficult to work with in school. Other than that she is like any other child. My question is, sometimes she will start to tear up for no reason. She could be sitting at the table in the morning and she will start to tear up and won't answer you when you ask her whats wrong. If you push for an answer she comes out with "I don't know". Sometimes we also find her in the hallway standing there with tears in her eyes. (she doesn't wine, just has tears in her eyes). Why could she be doing this? My mom thinks its the FAS. What do you think this could be?

My daughter is 3 in March and I need a name to call her bits. At the moment I just call it a 'wee wee' but I would prefer another name. My mother in law says that you should call it a vagina from the start but I think I would prefer a child-friendly name for the time being, but am stuck on what to use. Any suggestions would be great - the more, the better so I can decide which is best for us. I have been putting it off a bit, but she is inquisitive and I need to be able to call it something. I don't want to confuse or embarrass her. ***If any perverts, paedos or similar people reply, please be warned that I will report you at once as children's sexual matters are no joke***

I'm from a city where the majority of people I know have kids in high school or right after. My boyfriend, who is 28, and has a 1 year old son, doesn't want to have any more kids until he is in his mid 30's. I feel this is too old. It's not fair to be old while your kids grow up. (My parents were in their 30's when they had me and my dad had a heart attack and almost died before I even graduated high school.)
What do you think is a "good age" to have kids?
If you have kids, how old were you when you had them, and are you happy with that?
Thanks!
