Where do you get the silly notion that its a parents job to teach sex ed and not teachers?

Im sorry how is it different to chemistry, biology, history, maths, or french lessons other then everyone will do it, be compelled to do it, hurt if they dont do it and its a bigger part of life them most things including having your own family eventually.
And the strongest feelings are part of it

You need to get a dictionary and look up the word teacher those who cant grasp this simple notion

teacher
ergo to er teach.
with teaching boards
teaching tools
teaching videos
professional teaching qualificiations
teaching experience
in a teaching institution
with teaching aids
teaching books
teaching hand outs
with teaching models
The ability to afford teaching field trips,

etc etc... why is that to hard for you to get?

parents should help like they should help with all homework;

And make sure they are leaning everything but you cant trust them as most are useles

Plus parents are often moron lunatics who dont beleive their kids are grwoing up and will be sexaul beings as they stupidly think if they dont teach their daughter wont have periods and fancy boys, their son wont mastrerbate and be obsessed with breasts.

this is as your typical parent is an idiot and nutter in denial and most are too dumb to teach

And too irresponsible

THE ONLY WAY YOU GET A GOOD EDUCATION FROM A PARENT IS TO ATTACH A LIE DETECTOR TO SOMETHING LIKE A SOLDERING iRON THAT ROTATES

OR GIVES ELECTRIC SHOCKS IF THE PARENT IS LYING, OR BEING DECEPTIVE OR HOLDING ANY INFO BACK

tHEN ASKING THEM TO TELL EVERYTHING AND ANY BS OR STUFF HELP BACK THEY BURN AND SCREAM...

That way no girls get cursed, those who self abuse go blind, anyone who kisses boys is a whore, nobody does that its all on TV BullS

TOFFEE TOFFEE TOFFEE

This how to bring up kids...

Teach bkids to swim from babies so by teenage are like dolphins, expert swimmers so wont drown.

Teach ninjitsu and assasins martial art from age say 3 so by teenage can kill any group of people who tries to hurt them or others , so can also capture, cripple or otherwise neutralise any threat.

Teach fieldcraft from a young age so can survive in the wild

Teach all about firesafety and escape from houses.

Teach resourcefulness so can use whats around them.

Make sure they are fully aware of the dangers of guns, bad driving, fire and drugs by taking them to see people treated or pile ups.

and apply the same principle to sex ed.

ie to help kids survive withotu harm you teach the lot.

acedemic stuff comes secondary

YOU getting the picture.???

plus remove all sense of awkardness, embarrasment etc from their minds so sex is seen as much part of life as breahting when you get older and totally realxed about asking about anything

TOFFEE not only would I teach kids if I had them... I would have them teach all the other kids directly against their parents wishes possibly by flyposting the school so forcing the issue

All seem to be obessed with values.

no bullying or negligence covers it all.

ie no neglience would mean in chemistry protect the environment, keep poision from kids, in economics its fair trade,in sport its playing fair and in sex ed its not risking people and yourself, its not two times and hurting others or playing with feelings ie pretending to love somone who clearly loves you to shag and leave them and laugh in their face.

Values means you can sleep around if looking for somone to love. but if in love unless swinging not to mess them around.

it means not raping or being a peadophile.

Its saying prostition like seen in billy Pipers belle De Jour depiction of consentual high class sexaul companionship is fine... whilst girls raped and forced to work as sex slave prostitutes is not.

its really that simple. these are universal values. The relgions values only keep the vicious circle of repression and ignorance going

There are just some things that SHOULD be taught by the parents. Sex is an act that should be talked one-on-one, not with a bunch of teenagers in a room and a teacher giving a generalized overview of what sex is and what comes about. Parents should sit down and talk to their children and answer any of the "embarrassing" questions that their children may have that aren't answered in a classroom setting. Sex isn't just something that can be taught?! You teach children chemistry, french, Math, etc.

Would you want someone you don't personally know teach your child about your religion when you don't even know what that person believes? ....No...I'm sure you wouldn't.

Bottom line...there's just some things that AREN'T others responsibility to teach children. That's just part of being a parent.

In all honesty.......you are no kind of a teacher. I hope you don't have children...by what you have said you are a moron. You need to read a book on parenting, and being a compassionate human being.

Compassion comes with being a good, loving concerned parent.
You are in a worldwide internet situation. Different countries have different beliefs. You apparently strongly feel that you do not want to teach your children about the subject of sex. If you are some kind of pervert then this entire RANT makes sense to me....Of course; then you would want someone else to deal with this issue to better your children above your sick mentality. I can't understand any other logical reason why someone else is better to instill into your children the proper morals, ideas, and self-esteem issues. Communication with your children is a wonderful thing, sharing and learning about the little beings you created makes us better people and parents.

Parents are supposed to teach their children about life. Do you think it is the school's responsibility to potty train your children or teach them to walk and talk and think too? What would be the point of having children if you just push them off on other people to teach them everything? Parents should be involved in all aspects of a child's life!

That isn't to say that schools shouldn't teach about sex (especially the technical aspects; anatomy, how pregnancy happens, diseases, etc.) but parents need to talk to their kids about this too. I think that the more subjective part of sex education should come from the family.

It sounds to me that you just want to argue your way out of talking to your kids... or that you have some kind of issue with teachers. I can't really tell which

Actually it's teachers that is the silly idea. Teachers and "public schools" is a rather new concept.

Children learned everything from their parents or, if they could afford it, a tutor.

Parents teach their children to walk, talk, manners, etc. Parents are the ones who should teach morals, sex ed, etc to their children. No way on earth I'm going to let some stranger teach my children things like that.

What's so hard for you to get about that? I figure your parents sucked and I feel bad for you but that's the minority.

What if the teacher is a nasty whore who believes that sex with farm animals is a good idea?

What if the teacher believes there is nothing wrong with teens having sex with adults?

What if the teacher believes that it is ok for teens to have sex to reproduce?

It is the parents job to not only teach sex education but also make sure that the child has a good moral upbringing as well. Teaching one without the other is ridiculous.

2007-11-13 03:55:46 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 4 0

I'm going to answer even though this is a total rant.

First, parents are kids' first and primary teachers. Just because they're not employed by a school doesn't mean they're not supposed to teach.

Second, sex ed differs from chemistry, biology, math, and French because not only does it involve the science of reproduction, it involves values. Parents' values on sex and their children's sexual activity differ widely, and the responsibility for passing on these values falls squarely on the parents. (But maybe you don't care about what your kids do when it comes to sex)

Third, I have no problem with school teachers teaching the mechanics and consequences of sex. But parents who care about the well-being of their children need to be active participants in this aspect of their kids' education.

[EDIT] That's a pretty simplistic values statement. I don't agree with your values. Therefore, I reserve the right to pass on my own values to my children. Especially when it comes to sex.

And I'd have a lot more respect for you if you paid enough attention to spell my name right. [END EDIT]

Why dont you just hand custody of you children over to the school system then. Do you think its the teachers resposibilty to teach the kids right from wrong, is it their job to teach them not to do drugs or smoke or drink. Teacher play a role in our kids life and guide them but we have to do it aswell at home. If your child learns to respect there teacher more then you cause you dont want to put a parenting effort in, you are in for a crappy relationship with your child down the road. We have a resposibility being we are, the PARENT.

because of the fact there is greater to intercourse than only biology. there is morals and kin values that a instructor can not in all probability practice; the two because of the fact it touches on faith and is in all probability against the guidelines, or because of the fact this is a few theory held by using a kin that the instructor's no longer attentive to. specific, the biology ingredient ought to learn in college. possibly the college counselor ought to grant a classification interior the household projects and effects intercourse brings. yet finally, it is going to learn by using the father and mom.
