Hi dear parents out there (and other friends). Since I sincerely appreciate your job as parents (I'm an early childhood teacher), I would like to know your thoughts, opinions, etc. on the following quote.
"Parenthood: That state of being better chaperoned than you were before marriage." ~ Marcelene Cox

Let me know how it made you feel!
Oops, that's not a question ... let me rephrase ... How did it make you feel?
(Ah, much better. LOL)

I am 5 months pregnant and soooo excited .... I can't wait for the baby ....

But I have a problem ... tell me something, if the husbands are there at childbirth, are they actually allowed in the delivery room? Because I know my hubby will be there on that day, but I don't want him to be in the OT. I don't want anyone from my family there. I want to go through it alone and spend some time alone with my kid, before anyone see her/him. I guess I am being selfish.

Anyone faced this? How do I tell him ? BTW, I don't have any problems with my husband. I love him a lot.

My 12 year old almost 13 has final admitted that she had oral sex and swallowed a guys semen. Its her 13 year old boyfriends if you can call it that they do not hang out at all after school or on the week end. But I know the boy he rarely interacts with my daughter at all they are friends but just barely. Hes not a bad kid but its because of this that I am upset and I really do not know what to do or how to handle this.

She is my first daughter. I do not think I want to press charges but I do not know the law. We live in Ontario. I think I am just here for advice I found out only hours ago. What happens now? And do I need to report this by the law? Can I go to jail if I do not? I don't want to get this kid in trouble but I should probably talk to his parents and I would like to know all my options.

What do you think?

I think that when I am a parent, I will push my children to do everything so they will have as many roads in life as possible. I don't think its fair to just let your children do what they want or they might end up useless.

Doesn't forcing them to apologize when they don't mean it send the message to the child that it's O.K. to lie as long as the lie makes someone else feel good rather than to encouraging them to be honest?

My idea is schools that is open 7 days a week and parents can deside what days the children will go to school based on their work schedule? This would help parents that have jobs that make them work the weekends. It would also cut down on overcrowding. I think it would be better than the solution to keep building more schools. It would also cut down on welfare because people would have less an excuse not to work. Also how about a school where parents can deside on night or day classes if they work evenings. Like instead of the usual 8-3 pm how about 4-10 pm? Both of these would lower the cost of daycare. How about longer school days with three days off?

Which one is the bigger epidemic really? Teenagers having unwanted pregnancys or adults having unwanted pregnancys?

I kind of feel that adult unwanted pregnancy maybe a bigger problems then teenagers pregnancy. I think that grown people probably end up with more issue then teenagers do. DNA testing, alimony ect. I think that teenage pregnancy is more publized. Just because you're a "grown adult" doesn't mean you're any better off.

Thoughts?

There is a couple that goes to my mothers church, it was the mother, father, and 2 children. The children were ages 5 and 1.
The 5 year old boy is the mothers child from a previous marriage .. and the 1 year old is the child the couple had together. (so, the 5 year old's mom married this man and had a baby with him .. making the 5 year old his step son).
Well, the 5 year old was always a hyper child and was always hyper during church services.
Last month the 5 year old was found hanging from a rope off the top bunk in his bedroom. It happend while the mother and 1 year old were away from the house .. it was only the 5 year old and the step dad at home.
They said it was an accident .. or "possible suicide".
Can a 5 year old really be clever enough to hang themself from a bunk bed with a rope??? Are they really able to tie a knot that strong???
I think it sounds fishy .. but the sad thing is, there is NO investigation.
Do you think the step dad did it? Do you think the mom knew?

My 15 year old daughter's ex-boyfriend (16) borrowed her iPod when they were together. A week later they broke up but he kept the iPod, but they still talked and remained friends. A week after that she asked for the iPod back and now he is saying he lost it and does not seem to considered about the whole thing. He had originally lost his own iPod a year a ago, yes, I know she should have never loan it out. But now what should I do, should I contact his mother and ask her to make sure he looks for it. Should I also ask her to buy her a new one? I know that if she did something like that, I would feel like she is responsible for it and buy a new one. I am also harping on her to be responsible for her actions. Please help.. (Oh, she has had the iPod for two years) Thanks.

What is the right age to buy a kid a cell phone. I know it has to do with how responsible they are, but I am just curious. They are both 8 year old boys. They may need one because they have soccer practice 3 times a week, school, and at a friend's house or something. I wouldn't buy them something like a Sidekick, but just a cheap, simple phone that they could use to call their mom or me in case of emergency. Any answers would be appreciated.

(I'm using my daughter's acount).
My daughter had surgrey on her leg six days ago ( it was a small surgrey but she still has to go to physical therapy & she's in a leg brace). She can't go back to school until Monday so of course she's so *Bored*. She asked me if she could invite some friends over to spend the night tonight I said no ( I don't want her being to active). Then she asked me if I could get her some movies, I said no becouse I don't want her watching to many movies. Then I told her i she's so bored she should study ( She's making all A's & B's).
Do you think I'm being to harsh? should I let some of her friends spend the night tonight? They are all good kids ( my daughter's 15 btw).

Has anyone else noticed that as they get older, their tolerance for things goes WAY down?
I used to be VERY tolerant. Nothing really bugged me. Now? Oh, lord!

People who shuffle their feet really bother me. People who chew loudly bother me. People who have poor grooming bother me. Children playing outside after dark really bother me. Heck, kids in general who aren't behaved in general bother me.

I'm only 26 and I'm turning into a crotchety old lady! I'll bet it only gets worse, too. At 26, I am a lot less hesitant about calling people on things that bother me. Just the other day, I yelled at some kids who were messing around on a my husbands motorcycle. I was mostly worried that it would fall and squish one of them, but it made me REALLY angry. Like, enraged! I went and found their parents who were drinking beer in their apartment. WTF? Then I lit into this lady about keeping and eye on her child, teaching her child about safety and not drinking at 6 pm.

I see so many people who are religious about breastfeeding, but as soon as their baby is weaned, they feed them almost entirely on sugar filled rusks, OR they insist on giving their baby only home made purees and gasp at horror at the idea of jars, but as soon as their baby is a toddler they take them to McDonalds 3 times a week.
Where do all the good intentions for feeding our babies go? Do we just get bored of it, or is it that people really don't realise the food they are giving them isn't very good for them?

Can't we just all be a bit more balanced in our approach to childhood nutrition?

Or am I just generalising and seeing the worst in people?

Ok so my son is 11.5yrs old and i have been thinking a lot lately about Christmas and what to get him. He is really into science and electricity but we bought him science and electricity kits last year so i don't wanna get him the same stuff this year. We thought he would really enjoy playstation last yr so we bought him that and he hasn't played with it much at all(which is a good thing) but i am really stuck cause i'm not a boy and i have no idea what 11-12 yr old boys are into these days. I know he wants one of those roboraptors but given we have a 4yr old it just isn't a good idea as it'll get broken, not to mention they cost a lot of money.
So i need some ideas on what to get my son, if you have any ideas please share cause i have no clue right now?
Would i be wrong if i wanted to get him like 2 things then give him money to go out on boxing day to pick what he wants?
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, here is what happened....
Last weekend I treated my daughters head for lice.I thought I had got all the eggs out. Well she is in V-PK at a very posh daycare. (All the rich people i this town take they kids there) Well Wed. I got a call about an hour after she had been there and they told me that they had found eggs in her hair and we had to come get here. No big deal! I completely understood. Well I am an complete bedrest bercause I am pregnant, so my parents are here taking care of my two kids. So my mom goes to get here, (my mom has not been there before), they asked her when she came through the door, who she was there for, so she told them rher name and they lady told my mom that her class was out on the playground to get her form there. So my mom goes out there and as soon as she opened the door, my daughter was sitting in the dirt(there where chairs by her, but she was made to sit on the dirt). My mom looked at her and asked her what was wrong and she said that she was in

When it comes to kids, i always think that honesty is the best policy.

i would like to talk to my son about sex etc, but am worried about how to start the conversation, should i wait till he asks questions about it, or tell him every thing now?

When i was pregnant with my youngest child, i told him about sex and he has been quite happy with the explaination i gave him, so maybe i should just wait for him to ask more questions?

I have a nephew (10 years old) who is over the moon after having received a copy of the Dangerous book for Boys. Last year I sent him a compass and a magifying glass and he already has a penknife - what might be this year (as he says) the "absolute essentials" that he might like as a Xmas present ?
thank you for your help - I do not have children and my nephew and niece live overseas so I only see them once every 2 or 3 years.

A: how come they were left unattended long enough to run away.
