We tell them they're "unplugged." Can't watch or do anything that requires batteries or must be plugged in. No T.V., internet, computer games, X-Box, Game Boy, ipod, C.D.'s, cell phone, etc. This straightens them right up.

I wonder why you ask this question? I spanked my son once and regretted it completely. The message was confusing to him. I realized that it wasn't discipline - just wrong. Generally, he will get a time-out, activity restriction or early bedtime for infraction of rules. So, not considering the spanking, which isn't discipline, the most serious and least effective form of discipline is when I yell at him in anger.

My mom used to beat me with a wooden spoon until I was red and bruised. What made it worse is that she used to apologize the next day. She shouldn't have done it at all if she were just going to apologize...

My mum threw a chair at me once when i came home drunk then she threw me out the house and came and found me the next day and apologised...then i felt really guilty coz my dad died from being an alcohol!!

I wouldn't let my son go outside to play with his friends after he done whatever it was that he done wrong.
