Ok so my son is 11.5yrs old and i have been thinking a lot lately about Christmas and what to get him. He is really into science and electricity but we bought him science and electricity kits last year so i don't wanna get him the same stuff this year. We thought he would really enjoy playstation last yr so we bought him that and he hasn't played with it much at all(which is a good thing) but i am really stuck cause i'm not a boy and i have no idea what 11-12 yr old boys are into these days. I know he wants one of those roboraptors but given we have a 4yr old it just isn't a good idea as it'll get broken, not to mention they cost a lot of money.
So i need some ideas on what to get my son, if you have any ideas please share cause i have no clue right now?
Would i be wrong if i wanted to get him like 2 things then give him money to go out on boxing day to pick what he wants?
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks

sooner or later you will meet a guy worth of your love, this boy isn't!! stay faraway from him and supply your self time to heal. the main severe relationship you have is the single with your self, shelter your self such as you will possibly your dearest buddy. additionally sleep deprivation may be nasty, it somewhat is going to start to clutter with your techniques. Take an afternoon without work, have a cuppa and a powerful sleep. in case you are able to now not sleep during the day attempt this, bathe then dress in something superb, flow out for espresso or lunch with a chum, decide for a walk, consume a superb dinner, take an prolonged bathtub and get a sturdy nights sleep. shelter you because you're nicely worth it! Then flow out and have a brilliant life (study, artwork perplexing and so on and accomplish what you elect) and stay faraway from that boy, he's not the single! stay sturdy! each and all of the suitable (massive digital hug to you)

Which playstation did you get him. The new ps3 with the "eye" looks pretty cool. http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Games/THE_EYE_OF_JUDGMENT

Otherwise go to the discovery channel toy section for engineering type toys. Also if he's serious about science and engineering, simple games like Mastermind are great for developing logic skills. Also a subscription to Popular Mechanics for kids, or similar if he's too old for that one. If I think of others Ill post back, Im an engineer.

Oh this other gift thats spose to be big this year, is this super magnifying eye you plug into your tv. It was in targets gift book last year.

Guitar Hero's another one for boys that age for Ps2

ToysRUs has some cool science stuff for decent prices. A couple of years ago, my stepdaughter was into the science/astronomy stuff. We got her a microscope and a telescope from ToysRUs for about $125.00. The telescope was on the more expensive side, but it was a better quality one.

Another option is the science and nature stores. We used to have them in the local malls. They had all kinds of different things for all ages. We could leave my father in there for hours, but my little brother enjoyed it as well.

I think you should ask him what he's most interested in getting for Christmas and go with his desires. The more he learns about different things the better take he'll have of what career choice interests him later on. Kids are like sponges and when they want to learn let him learn.... give him the tools he desires to learn with.... and in my opinion it's not fair to not give him what he really wants because of another child....teach one child to take good care of his stuff and keep it high out of reach of the other and teach the other what he's not allowed to touch....

My mom has a 20 yr. old and a 16 yr. old and the oldest one likes Red Hot Chili Peppers only but there is only so much of that she can buy..so she trys to find a few things of that, a few clothes for his work and then gives him gift cards to music places and game stores.
The younger one likes video games but my mother is not up to date nor does she know what he already has so she gets him gift cards to many game places, some clothes and random things she thinks he needs.
Best thing to do if you are unsure is to get him gift cards to places you know he likes, some clothes and random things. My parents never knew what I wanted so I got socks, pj's, some clothes, candy and then gift cards to get what I wanted so I wouldn't have to return it or make them feel bad b/c what they get is ugly or totally not what i wanted.

I always give my 7 year old son the argos book to look through, and ask him what he would like.
I always make it clear to him that he can circle the items in the book, as many as he likes, but that doesnt mean he will get everything he asks for.
does the trick for us!

Get him another Science/Electricty set. Sounds like what he likes, and who cares if he got one last year.

Ask if theres anything else he wants. Think of stuff everyone likes. Like bikes if he dosn't have one.
