I see so many people who are religious about breastfeeding, but as soon as their baby is weaned, they feed them almost entirely on sugar filled rusks, OR they insist on giving their baby only home made purees and gasp at horror at the idea of jars, but as soon as their baby is a toddler they take them to McDonalds 3 times a week.
Where do all the good intentions for feeding our babies go? Do we just get bored of it, or is it that people really don't realise the food they are giving them isn't very good for them?

Can't we just all be a bit more balanced in our approach to childhood nutrition?

Or am I just generalising and seeing the worst in people?

It's not the they don't still have good intentions, it's often that they're just plain tired. Moms are the most overworked people on the planet, so give them a break.
I tried to do all the right things with my twin girls, but when my son came 10 years later, I was just too overwhelmed and overworked to follow thru with him. They're all grown now. The girls are beanpole vegetarians, and the boy has a beer belly and lives on pizza. Our mistakes usually come home to roost on those we love.

Funnily enough I did NOT breastfeed, I did not give my kids rusks, sweets or the like, I did make all my own baby food, did not use jars, and you know what else....

I don't go to Mc Donalds or any other takeaway either - I still cook from scratch every night.

Takeaways are for a special occasion only.

I've not seen this behavior. The women in our neighborhood are fairly consistent. They either breast-fed, or not. Do the junk food, or not.

Plus I think McDonald's is under-rated and an easy target. They do have healthy food there.

Yes, generalizing, seeing the worst, judging, and worrying about something that has nothing to do with you.

Take care of your own.
