I'm not a smoker, but I feel like I have to put my 2 cents in here.
Smoking even if it's outside stays on your clothes, hair, hands, etc and the chemicals from this can be transferred to your children. So unless you change clothes and shower you are harming your children with your smoking.
I especially hate it when I see kids in the hospital that are having respiratory issues and the parents don't get that smoking leads to asthma and other breathing problems.
Or when you are driving down the road and you see a car with the windows rolled up and the parents are smoking. Poor kids didn't ask to be exposed to that crap.
One more complaint... Mom's who smoked while they are pregnant and then can't figure out why their newborn is fussy and hard to console. Hello, they are withdrawing from nicotine. Or new moms that go out to smoke right after there babies are born.
One of the Dr's at our local hospital goes as far as turning the parents in for child abuse when the child has an illness related to the parents smoking.

I smoke about 5 cigarettes a day, i have a 1yr old daughter & i don't feel anything, i'd like to quit but it relaxes me.
I never smoke around my girl, i wait until my hubby is home from work & or when her grandma takes her out. I never smoke in the home, i go in the garden, i wash my hands afterward & chew a mint. I don't smoke in public so she doesn't even know i do it, how can i be endangearing her?
I understand what you mean though if parents smoke around their kids, my friend does this with her 10 month old, her whole family have chain smoked around her in home & on car journeys, the baby now has bad asthma & a terrible chesty cough thats lasted for months. She's my friend & i like her a lot but i refuse to visit her too much as i don't want my baby breathing it in.
So i think its up to you if you smoke, we are adults right? but theres a way of going about it & not being selfish to your child health!
Tricky- When you say disgusting does your head whirl round & your breath turn green? lol what an idiot.

I stopped smoking when i was pregnant because of the harmful affects to the baby. It made me feel sick when i smelt smoke of other people. Luckily ive now been smoke free for a year and a half
I figured if i could stop 9 months then i could easily stop for life!
And when i say life i mean also saving my own life!!
If you have willpower then you can stop for the sake of your baby or kids.
I know myself how addictive smoking is though and im kinda thankful that the smell made me feel sick during pregnancy! Otherwise i mght never have stopped!

Well I smoke outside only so there is no danger other than them seeing me and thinking it is ok. I think two parents chain smoking in a house with no fresh air coming in is bad for them. However one parent smoking one every few hours is far from dangerous!

Parents that smoke ,even though you dont smoke in the home remember to wash you hands and change your shirt. The smoke remains in your hair and clothing and this too can trigger asmtha attacks and respiratory problems as well.

Not a smoker here, but I wanted to add something...
What is sad that smokers, even if they are doing it away from their children, are destroying their own lungs. WHY? I realize it's addictive, but why start when you know that it causes lung cancer and emphesyma... which eventually lead to your own death?
It never ceases to amaze me. Sad statement that adults are making when they choose cigarettes over their children, regardless over the fact that they might smoke away from them. Children see their parents wither away from smoking. Hopefully, when left parent-less, a non smoker will be kind enough to bring up the child and not expose them to such a nasty habit.
Hmmm... lung cancer, emphesyma... or health. I choose health. :) I want to be around my children long enough to enjoy them.

DISGUSTING!! What kind of role models are parents who smoke whether its in the garden or not! These children are going to grow up thinking its ok to smoke because mummy and daddy do it, and those parent cant really turn around to them and let them know all the harm they will be doing to their bodies! Can they?!! or tell them to stop!!
Not to mention that these parents are putting their health at risk, they have children to raise!!!!
I just dont understand it!!! All that damage to you health and the expense, they are paying for heart desiese, lung cancer, emphasemia etc..... on and on and on..........
