i have heard of this happening before. i dont get why that - would she want to hurt that child. i cant get it. whats scary is if you look at her ugly face their are so many people like that and what i dont get is she wouldnt have even been found out, if it didnt result in the babies death. (babies cant talk). How can you know if someone is so dispicable and capable of something as disgusting like that??
how can you trust anyone... anyone.
i couldnt ever, not even my blood family. im not stupid.

yes this is terrible crime and a breach of trust, but more children die on the roads than at the hands of babysitters. Perhaps one child a week is murdered by their parents or a relative. This was a shaken baby case and you can look up the incidence of shaken babies. It is very sad for the parents and for all involved, it was a tragedy.
I dont think this woman was a monster, any more than teenage parents or parents with learning difficulties can be described as not fit to parent a child. How can you tell who would do this to a baby? This is why we have the NSPCC and child protection awareness in schools.

Some people just crack and there is no sane explanation for what they do. I am a nanny for two severely developmentally disabled brothers and I would NEVER do this to them, and there are days the youngest will scream all day long. They can't help it. My son has never had a baby sitter other than my parents, in-laws, or his adult half-sister and her husband. I would never hire someone else to do it, even though that's what I get paid to do.
I think 3 years is a slap in the face to those poor parents! When someone takes the life of a child they should get a life sentence. 80 years. That's about how many years she robbed from that child!

Someone out in this world needs to come up with a Psycological Test to be given to anyone that wants to be a babysitter. This should be worldwide, with some fast quick service that can take the test and dicipher the results before we take on a babysitter. Think about it.....even Parents loose their temper........what happens then....?? Many times the same thing. I think from the onset of pregnancy, a woman and the father, should be forced to take child and parenting classes......MANDATORY it is the only simple solution....and we all as parents can learn from that, no matter how good we think we are.

Of course there are perfectly trustworthy people around and not everyone is a potential child abuser/murderer. I have worked in child care for over 20 years and have never harmed a child. But saying that I have seen some bad practises in child care and for this reason I would never leave my child in a day nursery environment. Sorry to nursery nurses out there who do work in nurseries, but that is my opinion based on my personal experiences. In fact when my sister-in-law was going to put her baby into day care I gave up my job to look after him myself as I could not bare to see him go there. I have never left my children with anyone other than my sister (I do not have a mother), and that was just for an occasional few hours. I believe that people should bring up their own children and not rely on strangers to do it for them.

And *that* is why our son has never been watched by anyone except our parents (I think people should be able to trust their own parents in most cases-they raised you, and you lived to have a baby of your own).

It is hard to know for sure what a babysitter does when you're gone and there are a lot of things they can do that will damage your baby even if it doesn't kill them....and like you said, babies can't talk so you would never know.

I cant believe she ONLY got 3 yrs......

She should have gotten at least 10 - 20 with NO early release!!

Ive never hired a child minder always asked my mum or mum - in - law, cant trust strangers no matter what qualifications they have or what company they work for.

That woman makes me sick!!

I know this sounds odd but I feel sorry for that woman. Not because of what she did, nothing ever will justify that. But because I can't imagine living the rest of her life with that horror in her head. I can't imagine someone not hating themselves every day they can manage to not kill themselves over causing such harm to a baby. She has a lot of hell to pay, and I am sure she will. It's not our place to judge her, she has been judged by the laws of the land, and now she will be judged by the laws of god as well. We need only feel pity at what she will suffer.

hi,
i can't understand why anyone would want to hurt such innocent little people as babies!
if i was ever in such a position i would be in jail myself because i would hunt the persons *** down, and what i would do to them i don't care to mention!
and what justice is that 3 years for a innocent child's life.!

I have twin daughters and I still find it hard to know who to trust in their care. Luckily, they are school age and have grandparents who pay for private school. I can, at any time, go to the school and check on my girls. That is the only way I could handle having them in the school.
