Not only did I say those things to my children, they're now saying them to theirs. Here are a few:
1) "Get off the roof!"
2) "Don't put the cat in there again!"
3) "Be kind to strangers, (later amended to include) - but stay away from them."
4) "Don't hold the cat up by its tail!"
5) "Don't say what I do, do what you say I do." (I always got that one mixed up, but somewhere therein lies a great truth).
6) "Don't dry your hair in the oven when the cat's in there."

I once said "You make a better door than a window"
and a few times I've said "If you were hungry you'd eat it"
"You're eyes are bigger than your stomach"
"Red sky at night, shepherds delight.
Red sky at morning shepherd's warning"
As a joke I'd say "What will the neighbours think?"
Or " You look like the Wreck of the Hespress (hesperus)".
I've also told my son the funny words my grandmother used.
Fire = stove. Lights = electricity Boiler = washing machine.
She was born in 1900.

I don't really know of any my mother or parental unit told me but over the last year I've pulled in a lot of useful quotes that can be used in a lot of helpful ways.
If you spend all of your time hating someone, then you have no time to love them. -Mother Teresa
-I use this quote to explain to people that even though your parent or someone you looked to for guidance may have taught a child to dislike gay people, or someone of a different race or religion more people should open their mind and really look in depth to why they don't like them and work forward to making your own mind at ease and more peaceful by not having any hate.
If everyone demanded peace instead of another T.V set, there'd be peace. -John Lennon
- This is one of my most often used quotes that I like people to make their own meaning out of it and use examples to back up their info. If this country, the US used all it's power and people to make this world more peaceful (i.e the war i Iraq and Tibet, etc...) instead of trying to make it perfect for our country alone, we could do it and it would be great!
If you wanna know anymore on my views then you can message me!

"Just because so and so's mom lets them do that, doesn't mean I'm gonna let you...."
"Close that door! You're letting all the bought air out!"
"Money doesn't grow on trees"
"If we ever threatened to run away, my mom never took us seriously (because we only would threaten) and she would tell us "Well, go on but don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out!"
:)

The two that I preach the most to my kids are:
If you can problem solve, You can do anything.
and
If you are 15 minutes early you are on time. If you are on time, you are late.
I try to make my kids have self confidence.

Take your hat off in the house.
The older I get the smarter my dad gets.
If you can't spend it you might as well have a pocket full of rocks.
Are you tired of living?

When I give my son something as a gift of which I know that it doesn't really interest him, I tell him the same as my father used to tell me: "Throw it away where I don't see it."

"Your Daddy wasn't a glass maker, move your head."
"You make a better door than you do a window."
"If you spent as much time trying to stay out of trouble as you do trying to get your brother in trouble, you'd be an angel."
"Do it, I dare you."
"Let's play the quiet game, the winner gets off my **** list."

"If you don't stop crying, I will give you something to cry about", lol. I still don't get it, they are already crying about something. But I insist upon saying it, a bad habit I feel. When my kids call me on it I don't quite know what I will say, lmao

"You're not bleeding, your fine." I try not to say much that my parents used to say because my mom was verbally abusive to us 4 kids and a control freak.
