Why do people have children and when the relationship ends, they think its ok to leave their children high and dry without any support and turn right around and have more children?

It would seem like if they held to the punishment, there shouldn't be anything wrong with it.

He's a hard nosed guy. He never gives in with his arguments. Sometimes we can agree that we are both right, or we both disagree. He will never admit that he is wrong though.

I try to bring up arguments that I know he will be wrong about, and try to make him admit it. He just won't!

How do I make him admit he is wrong?

My kids school in Texas does. Of course they ask the parents permission first. My school growing up spanked. Just seeing that big wooden paddle was enough to keep me in line, and of course the embarrassment of being spanked at school. I am just curious to know how many other school systems still allow this.

For me it was until 14 but I was occasionally "threatened" with them until 16. How embarrassed I was at 12,13,14 when my older brother and sister would tell the neighborhood girls and girls at school that I still got spanked!

I mid 30s now...is it really true people don't spank much any more?....that must be an interesting way to get raised....no concept of limits, authority or anything.

We are not married and we do not live together, (as I will not move in with him without him marrying me first) I personaly think the surname is something earned with marriage and commitment to being a family not donating sperm and wimping out of a planned wedding.

My wife and I are hoping to conceive soon. We have been together for 5 years and this will be our first child. I am an only child and this will be my mother's first grandbaby.

She doesn't know we are even thinking about conceiving and he said she is getting rid of her truck so she can get a SUV. She wants a safe car for children and one that could fit many people.

She doesn't have any friends, a boyfriend or anyone else to ride in the car. It would literally just be my mom, me and my wife and any (future) kids in her car. My mom is planning on buying a vechicle because she assumes she will be a grandma soon!

Should I expect her to go overboard, like buy a crib for her house and rearrange her work schedule so she can care for our child often?

Has anyone's mom done this?

Is this normal for moms to plan things around future grandbabies?

I have a sister and sister-in-law who have at some point use hot sauce to control their childrens behavior. I have a 16 mo old and would never dream if it. I know it can some times be hard but, I have noticed that they are not very consistent, they do not use eye contact, and most attempts to discipline are threats. Further more I always hear my sister use the same squeaky voice she uses to praise and play to discipline. How do you feel about this method of discipline (ages range from 6-3)? I think it is crazy and cruel and, the child will at some point just get used to it.

My wife and I have been together for 5 years.

We are in our mid 20's.

We were waiting for our “perfect time” to have a child.

We wanted to pay off our house, cars, and do a $50,000 house remodel before having our first child.

Friends told me I would regret waiting so long because there will never be a “perfect” time.

So we decided to get pregnant now, and our house and cars will be paid off before the baby is born.

So we made it to the half way point of our “perfect” time.

The remodel will wait, but I think I will be happy being a father more than I would enjoy a new kitchen at this time.

Did anyone else try to wait for the “perfect” time and then decided to just start a family instead?

I am talking about the age of a first time mother.

Do you consider anyone under 20 a “young” mom?

Or do you consider anyone under 30 a “young” mom?

My wife is hopefully going to have our first child when she is 24.

I consider 24 to be an “average aged” mom, and not really a “young” mom.

What age do you consider to be a young mom?

Are you a young mother??

Any other opinions? Let’s hear them!

Can anyone tell me if this doll is colored more like Jennifer Lopez or Sonia Bragga (if you remember her from Sex & The City)? I want to get a Bitty Baby as close to my daughter's tones as possible. She has dark brown hair and eyes, but her skin tone is LIGHT olive (think Italian - not stereotypical "hispanic"), kind of like Nancy Lee Grahn on General Hospital.

My daughter will be 15 soon and some of her friends are 16 & older. Quite a few of them already have their own cars. This baffles me. My parents did not buy me a car. I didn't have a car until I got grown and bought my own. But that was then and this is now. I had planned on trying to get her a car for her 18th birthday but should I be trying to do that sooner? I'm a single mother and a car is a big expense plus I am not sure that I will be ready to turn her loose on the road when she gets 16. I just don't want her to be feeling underprivileged nor do I want her to have a false sense of entitlement. Give me some real advice here please. Thanks!
