The child prances around the neighborhood with hair weave extensions down to her butt. Just a month ago her hair was brown and today I see that it's light blond and blown straight, her fingernails and toes are painted hot pink and she dresses her in tiny shorts with tube tops or really short skirts. Occasionally I see the little girl wearing lip gloss or pink lipstick. She carries a purse and always wears these little cinderalla slippers with a low heel. I don't want to judge the mother or call her a bad parent but my 8 year old niece visits me often after school and I refuse to let my niece play with her. There is a rumor on the block that I think my niece is too good to play with certain kids. I don't blame this child at all but I don't want my niece to think looking this way as a child is okay. She already asked me to buy her some nail polish and a purse since she met this little girl so I immediately told her not to play with her. Am I wrong for feeling this way

Hi my name is andrea terwilleger i am writing to seek legal advice. I have a daughter Ariana whom is four years old, i met my ex boyfriend Travis when my daughter was two years old, My relationship with Travis lasted 1 year and 6 months. We separated in October of 2005. It has been almost 1 year now. When we first separated i allowed him to visit with ariana about once a month so that i could slowly separate them. After 6 months i informed him that the visits would stop because i knew that my daughter was ready to move on now. I had thought that it would be a shock to her if i just separated them in the very beginning. Travis is not the biological father of Ariana. On Thursday 9/28/06 a private detective whom Travis had hired, approached me at my daughters school and informed me that i had a court date for a child custody hearing on 9/29/06 at 8:30am.i appeared and The judge granted this man temporary visitation rights until the trial date 11/25/06 what can i do to stop these visits

Her older siblings are away at school, my husband lives and works in another state, so it is just us. She is 8 inches taller than me, and outweighs me, which sometimes scares me. I volunteer at her school, and all her friends all like me, but she makes fun of me for this, and often tells me they don't like me. I am at my wit's end. I just don't know what to do anymore.

You just left the grocery store and you are in such a rush to get home that you forgot to buckle your baby's car seat. By the time you notice you are about a block away from home. Do you,
A) Keep driving, you'll be home in a minute and she'll be fine, or
B) Pull over and buckle her in- most accidents happen within a mile of home!
Why?

My daughter raised the most money for her cheerleading league last year and the year before for homecoming. She was crowned homecoming queen and got a lot of cute stuff. we work hard to raise the money, but this year I hear there is another mom that want's to just give money out of her pocket to make sure that we dont win again. What's the big deal if we're working hard for it right? we don't flaunt, she found on the website who won. Parent's in the spirit of competition would you want to do the same as this "new mom" to the team? Or would you be more passive? I'm not upset with the lady, the title is fair game and there is no way for her to find out how much we dontated, it just makes me want to work twice as hard to get the title for my daughter again. Now we both look like we're not good sports. what would you do?

Hi~
I am a parent of a 3 year old son and another son due in Jan. 2007. I have been reading questions here from teens who are looking for dates or asking about them. These kids are really young between the ages of 11-15. Don't you think that is too young to date let alone be by them selves? There is no need to date or hang out with their friends alone at that age. And what is so wrong with parents being with their kids where ever they go until they are 16. If you are with them then they can't get in trouble.

I would never allow my boys to date or even group date until they are 16. They wouldn't even be allowed to go anywhere alone until they were 16. That is the way my parents were with me and that is what I am doing with my boys. My feeling is this: If you don't want to be with your kids then you shouldn't have had them!
Thoughs?

I have two boys 5 and 7 and they take more than one hour to finish lunch or dinner. They are very well behaved but is just as if lunch and dinner is their time to have fun, they make funny faces at each other, they laugh, and eating is the last thing on their minds.
I have tried taking away their priviledges like watching tv or playing games but nothing seems to work.
I am desperate to find a way to make them understand that lunch and dinner are times to eat and nothing else. Help please!!!!

My husband and I have been together for 12 yrs now. We both had a child when we met. Our children are only a few months apart in age. With our children going on 16 we have been discussing driving. He told one of our sons that he could not have a car until he acted more responsible. his grades are good but he has trouble shutting his mouth sometimes so I agreed to this thinking it would help him learn. But tonight he told our other child who is getting into mischief and making low grades he wants to buy him a car so he can start behaving. I was appalled at this because i had already told my ex that we wanted to wait on buying my son the car. I am not sure how to handle this
