. "It’s amazing to me that parents of infant or very young children continue to believe that the rest of the world finds their kids ’cute’ when they knock over tall glasses of orange juice, scream at the top of their lungs or throw forks in crowded restaurants,Restaurant owners and managers have every right to ask people to leave if the dining experience of the majority of diners is being compromised by a bunch of slobbering, screaming infants,These parents do not get a pass

My husband and I just moved across country to the NW suburbs of Chicago, and we really need a good sitter since we have no family out here, and not many friends yet....I have tried a few sites such as 4sitters.com, babysitters.com, and sittercity.com but they all charge over $30 just to join, and I didn't see a whole lot of selection once you do join! We're not church goers, and so far our neighbors are not real helpful, no one wants to reccomend their sitter and risk them not being available when they need them! I've even tried the newspaper to no avail, everyone wants full or part time positions, and this is just a random gig, for the occasional night out.....
Can anyone suggest anything!?!?
Thanks!

I am a single mother who works 40 hours a week. I also have about a 20 to 30 minuet commute to work, (I just moved into a nicer home and a better neighborhood to raise my daughter). Lately I have not been able to spend much time with my 13 month old due to the change and I have been stuggling with feelings of guilt. I feel that others are raising my little girl and all I do is make the money, and keep our home up and running. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the little time I have with my baby "count" even more?

Over her. Aspen has been riding the bus for 2 years. We know the bus driver she lives at the end of the street. Last year the bus drivers grandson dared another girl to scratch Aspen, when Aspen told the driver, she did nothing, I called and complained to the bus driver union, of course nothing was done that I know of( we are short on drivers in the district that's why) Today Aspen was being harrassed by another girl and was going to tell on her but the little girl told the driver first that Aspen was going to tell on her, the driver responded don't worry I wouldn't do anything anyway! I'm so upset, I really don't have another way to get her from school besides the bus!! If I call and complain(which I will) nothing will be done, this may be why the driver is against Aspen due to the issue last year! What should I do, What can I do? I will try to arrange some other way to get her but it won't be over night, any suggestions?

In the past few years, I've noticed that so many parents take their children everywhere rather than get a babysitter. Examples include adult-only weddings, late-night movies, bars, and sporting events. And I don't mean older children, I mean babies and toddlers.

Why can't people nowadays leave the kids at home?

Earlier I posted a question about how society is to blame for alot of our lost youth. A teacher responded to my question by saying it is the parents fault. But let me ask you this? Do we not as parents trust in the system that is supposed to protect our children. Do we not as parents have to work long hours just to be able to provide for the demands of that system. If the parents rely on the system such as schools, teachers, counselors, and any other aid that they need to maintain balance in their lifes, then whos fault is it the
parents, or the parents who rely on the system? I was so very angry by the teacher comment, because it wasnt her child it's not her responsibility. So who's is it? Every child is our future and therfore it is our responsibility as a sociey to ensure our future, if we dont how will we ever have one.

My husband and I have been together for 5 years and married for 2.

We are trying for our first baby and hopefully the baby will be born when I am 24/25 and he is 26/27.

We own a home, have plenty of money, careers, etc. and are very happy and stable.

I mentioned to my mother a few months ago that we wanted a baby soon.

She started a fight with me telling me I should wait until I am 30 and how she doesn’t have the time to be a grandma since my two little brothers still live at home. (They are 9 and 13).

I told her that it was our choice and not hers.

She told me it was HER business since I am her child and any children I have will be her grandchildren.

She feels she has a say in the matter because she shat me out!

She hasn’t supported me since I turned 18 and we are not going to rely on her for any help once we have a child.

Do you think its crazy that she thinks us having a baby is her business?

My husband works full time (night shift) and after taxes, makes enough to pay my mom for watching our two kids during the week, with maybe $100 left over for "incidentals." The only drawback is that we get a discount on our auto insurance through his employer. What do you guys think of him refusing to be a SAHD? My solution was for him to work weekends--basically enough to keep our auto ins discount, put a few bucks in his pocket, and have some "adult" time with friends/coworkers. He is adamantly refusing. He's working to pay daycare, basically. Right now, we pay all bills off my salary, and other than the auto insurance discount (which would continue if he worked weekends) there is no drawback that I can see to him staying home. Opinions? Advice? Reasons why he should/shouldn't stay home? I'm going to show him all answers, so please be honest (no matter what your opinion is!).
