Over her. Aspen has been riding the bus for 2 years. We know the bus driver she lives at the end of the street. Last year the bus drivers grandson dared another girl to scratch Aspen, when Aspen told the driver, she did nothing, I called and complained to the bus driver union, of course nothing was done that I know of( we are short on drivers in the district that's why) Today Aspen was being harrassed by another girl and was going to tell on her but the little girl told the driver first that Aspen was going to tell on her, the driver responded don't worry I wouldn't do anything anyway! I'm so upset, I really don't have another way to get her from school besides the bus!! If I call and complain(which I will) nothing will be done, this may be why the driver is against Aspen due to the issue last year! What should I do, What can I do? I will try to arrange some other way to get her but it won't be over night, any suggestions?

repost from gradeschool.. Not enough answers thnx

You as a parent have a right to complain. I would suggest since you know the driver (she is a neighbor of sorts) you talk to her in person. Be calm, courteous and to the point when you talk to her. It might even help if you have a tape recorder in your pocket when you do so. Her reaction to your talking with her would then be your deciding factor as to whether or not you take this to higher authorities. If she is rude, not amenable to change and unwilling to help - go to the top. Submit a written request to your child's school for an IEP meeting and at the meeting address your child's busing concerns. If you have the tape recorder it is good to bring it to light at this time. Your child has a right to be delivered to school in a manner that is safe and respectful. I will pray for you and your child, best wishes =)

Two different approaches here - if the school district runs the buses, call the head of the bus department and register a complaint, telling them what you told us.

If the district pays for an outside company, they take bus driver behavior much more seriously. Call the driver director, tell him what is up. He will call the driver in, and depending on the number of complaints against that driver, it can lead to suspension of dismissal.

In the meantime, since the driver is your neighbor, have your child avoid any family members, as well as driver. Don't got there for trick or treating, and meet the bus for the next couple of weeks, both going and coming.

When you put your daughter on the bus tomorrow, make a point of telling the driver these words "I trust my daughter won't have any problems on the bus today". Say it firmly, and let the driver know you're on to the deal. Then go make your calls. If your daughter suffers ANY reprocussions from your saying that to the driver, then go in person to the office to register another complaint, and inform the school.

Personally, I'd talk to her teacher now. Bus problems could also be school problems.

Yoou go to the princaple of the school and report the bus driver to and the other child. Explain what as happened and go to the superintandent.I drove a school bus for five years. I drove handicap and elementary middle and high. It is very hard to drive a bus and watch everything going on.Have the bus driver to put your child on the front seat. She will get to know the bus driver and the bus driver will see that is isn't the child causing all the problems. You can call a number that is a hot line for kids getting bulleyed. Call your state superintendant. Good Luck.

Buy a mini recorder and have her take it on the bus with her. It'll prove a lot. Without physical proof of anything, there is little a bus company can do. If your daughter was visibly scratched, then there should have been something done about that. A police report could have been filed, if the bus company refused to do anything.

However, if this was happening to my child, I'd be talking to other parents on the bus route - and driving my child to school myself. And, calling my attorney for a lawsuit.

Call the driver's supervisor and file a written complaint, along with a copy to the principal of the school and the school superintendent. This is not being handled by the driver, so you are requesting someone else get involved to get the matter resolved properly. Don't be mean, just factual.

Drive her to school for a few days. When her teacher asks why she isn't riding the bus just say your daughter is treated unfairly and the bus driver doesn't give a crap when kids are picking on others.

If she's in a union, I'm afraid complaining won't get her fired. Very little short of a felony can get a union member fired. The most that you might hope for would be to get her reassigned to a different route. Maybe you could discuss a reassignment with the principal?

schedule a meeting with the driver and her supervisor to outline and understand what the responsibilities and duties of the bus driver are, make sure the principle of the school is also there and discuss all your issues with them. you may not get the solution you want, but you will get the issue on record.

I think, because of the incident, she is what they called "marked".

She will now more than likely get either picked on or get in trouble, for no apparent reason.
and the sad thing about it, the marking isnt her fault, the driver just doesnt like her probably because she dont know why herself.
