Discipling your child is one thing like spanking them, but to physicallly, mentally, or emotional abuse them is unacceptable. Even the Bible speaks on sparing the rod and spoiling the child, but no one should hit a child in a way that could cause them any type of harm! That's one reason why no one should hit a child when they are upset because their anger will cause them to hit them with a great force and that's why they shoud calm down first!! Children are going to make mistakes and they should be corrected, but there's a way to do everything!! Parents that abuse their children should be incarcerated or seek help immediately!! Most times, the cycle is just continuing and it's just in the person and before they realize it, they have already hit the child!! I would encourage all parents to go to parenting classes and for those that were abused when they were young, to seek help so that they can discontinue the cycle!

That depends on what you mean by hitting their child. I think it's perfectly fine to spank a child (as in a swat or two on the butt, not hard enough to leave marks just hard enough so they know they're doing something wrong) but when they go further and are actually beating the child repeatedly especially on the face and back and other parts of the body and leaving marks, yes they should be incarcerated. Child abuse is a crime

Number one. You should be incarcerated for writing in all caps. Please don't do that again.
Number two. Yahoo Answers isn't here for us to do your homework for you.
Number three. That's a good topic. Make sure you try to write both sides of the topic, even though there should only be one, and that is, Yes, parents should be put in jail for hitting their children, regardless of whether they leave a mark or not.

not as long as they follow the law such as you may strike your child as long as it doesnt leave a welt, or bruise use of a foreign object, then yes they should be.
too many people on here are going to immediately say yes because they are all wussies on disciplining thier children.
and before you say it, yes i know there are other ways to discipline a child and those dont work on all children, sometimes it takes brute force to show who is boss in teh family.
everyone in the past generations that i know of have been spanked, slapped put in time out and they have all turned out fine, now adays everyone is afraid of child services/custody.
grow a back bone people!

nicely, it somewhat is a problematic question. changed into mom an important component of their lives earlier she changed into incarcerated? (and that i do not mean that throughout the time of a foul way, yet i understand someone who demanded their youthful toddlers be presented to visit her, at the same time as earlier her incarceration, the toddlers lived ninety 9.9% of the time with their grandparents, and did no longer have lots of contact with mom.) How lengthy is she going to be incarcerated? Are they previous sufficient to jot down letters? and the way many circumstances are you making plans to visit? as an celebration, in case you intend on having them visit each Saturday, and they are older and performance ballgames, college activities, and acquaintances, they'd resent being compelled. after all, at the same time as she is their mom, they did not do something incorrect and would sense it really is punishment to have them miss the flaws they are doing. i wager my answer is, it only relies upon. confer with the toddlers and be conscious what they prefer. it ought to do extra damage than sturdy in the experience that they are very youthful and do not comprehend it really is only a visit, or in the experience that they are older and favor to do "their" element. sturdy success!

honestly i think it depends on the situation. there are paents who use physical punishment daily and i don't think that is right. I don't know about you but i have definetly given my kids "taps" on thier bums!! The first time 2 year old said the f word, he got a little flick on his lip..it didn't hurt him him but it made him realize that that is not ok. overall no i don't think it's ok to hit your kids, but i think the authorities should focus more on the parents neglecting thier childen or promoting immoral behavior like underage drinking and illegal drug use than the parents who are trying to raise ethical decent children. So in the end no i don"t think parents should be incarcerated for hitting thier children unless there is physical or emotional harm caused. ....but thats just me!!

It depends on how they hit the child, where on the child's body they hit, and the intensity of the hit. For example, a open palmed swat on the bottom is acceptable, however, a punch in the face with a closed fist is totally unacceptable.

Depends on the 'hitting'. If they are beating their child, yes. If they are just using physical force instead of respect to get their child to listen, they should do some kind of parenting classes.

I do not think they should be unless they are being abusive. I use to paddle my son and he has turned out to be a pretty good young adult. (He is 20 now) IF the hitting is abusive, then yeah, lock 'em up for the child's safety!

well it depends why the parent is hitting the child. If the child is seriously doing something wrong then I would slap em to. But if it is for no reason they should be incarserated.
