my daughter is getting ready to turn 8. She knows my husband is not her bio-dad and we are currently in the process of him adopting her, which she expressed the want for this as well. The problem is how she came to be. Her bio-dad raped me, but my heart can not bear to tell this beautiful girl thats how she got here. When she asks where her 1st daddy is I tell her he loved her very much, but had to go away. She asks if she will see him I tell her no he died. that part is true. She asks how, I tell her cancer, also true. Am I doing the right thing by mostly telling her the facts, but leaving out the part on how he came to be her 1st dady as she calls him?I seriously don't want her to ever feel I do not want her, a problem I have seen with other children that know they came into the world that way. I have always wanted her from the day i found out i was pregnate. Thank you in advance for your time.

I have tried everything from grounding, taking things away, writing sorry letters, excluding her from things, and spanking. She continues to be physically abusive towards children in our neighborhood and her sisters, the youngest turning 2. I do not expose any of my children to violent t.v. or bring them into any situation to pick it up from. We have a healthy home life style that is drug, alcohol, and vilence free. Any suggestions, ideas on how to get her to stop. I also am finding information harder to get where shes a girl and not a boy.

in asked a question on hitting kids and most people were in aggrement with me that it was wrong but the odd one said that whenever they show there child a belt they shut up on other questions there was stuff like hitting there kids with wooden paddles ok im not tottaly against lighty reinforcing "no" but how can you say belting a child is not the same as beating them

I have 2 autstic children 7 and 6 my boy has decided he don't like his diaper changed anymore. We are trying to teach him to use the potty but he hasn't got it yet. He don't talk so he can't tell us when he has to go. It has gotten to the point that it takes 2 people to change him. We don't always have 2 people to change 1 diaper. I also have an 11 year old boy.

1) The Bible supports it!
2) Nearly all kids need it now and then!
3) It worked for us...it's a timeless form of discipline
4) Don't let the bleeding heart liberals tell you how to raise your kid!
5) It will improve the next generation and lower crime rates! The last generation is suffering because most were not spanked or not nearly enough.
6) It should be brought back to the schools (with parents permission, but most would approve).
7) If you need to do it public, do it, with no interference, attitude, or glares from others, just a nod of approval and walk on
8) I mean, spanking, not abuse. A good sound spanking done lovingly is not abuse
9) Neighborhood parents should know and watch out for each other, and if they see a kid who needs a spanking, call their parents!
10) Your kids will appreciate it!

I found out today that my son's father (who isn't particularly involved in his life) has put his phone bill in our one-year-old child's name. His credit is terrible, so evidently he decided to put his phone bill in the baby's name.

Needless to say, I'm furious about this and I have no idea what to do to fix the situation... I don't want my child's credit ruined. Is there any legal action I can take?

I used to drink a lot several years ago. When my son was born I cut down to an acceptable level with the occassional outbreak. Once or twice a year at most. I havent had a drink for months and months. In not abstaining from it, I just dont fancy a drink at this stage in my life. I am hardworking and my wife and I have been seperated for 4 years. Every opportunity she gets she tells my son that dad is a drunk and he would prefer to see his mates in the pub rather than come to see him. I have only missed two weekends to see my son in 4 years. My whole world revolves around him. How can I stop her poisining him. I am at my wits end.

ok so i was at sum store n they were sellin playdoh so i bought a bunch of it. then later my girlfriend who's pregnant got mad at me cuz she said i should be saving my money for the baby n i told her its my money n i can do watever i want with it! then she said that i need to start acting mature n watever.
was it really that bad that i bought playdoh instead of investing into sum crib or watever?

I have two teen age girls and younger boys. I need to find a better way of dealing with them. You can't talk to teens, they don't typically open up. I provide oportunity and they don't take advantage of the oportunity. I am at aloss. The techniques I have been using are working, but not well enough.
Any and all suggestions are welcome, particularly from teen age girls and parents of them.

any saturday night plans? my 8 year old daughter went over my sisters for the weekend as she does every weekend. my 7 month old son stays with me so me and my hubby are probably going to get a bite to eat and maybe see World Trade Center. My son is very good in the movie theatre, he will sleep right through the movie(thank god). have you ever taken your baby to the movies?

When I was a child this was standard fair in the house. Sure enough after getting discipline I didn't do it again. I am not talking about beating child either. I got spanked or whopped with a belt a couple of raps on the behind. Then I had to apologize for what I did wrong. I just don't see the wrong in it.

My daughter will be three in october (i had her when her father and i were both 18) and, due to problems her father had with his temper we have had no contact since i was pregnant, untill he called me out of the blue a couple of months ago.

Now (after i met him a few times alone), he has joined us to feed the ducks or go to the park etc. a few times, but she doesn't seem to like him, won't leave my side and says that she doesn't want to see him (she calls him by his name, not daddy or dad).

I am concerned that my family's (who she and i live with) attitude about him (he is not allowed in the house for example), and the feelings that i have towards him are ruining her chances of getting any real relationship with him.

Does anyone have any suggestions or somewhere i can go for help.

My 8 yr old just told me that a 4th grader who is a boy is picking on her. She said he did it last year has well. He pushes her at recess and calls her names. She had me to promise I would not tell the teacher or the principal. I do not know what to do at this point.

My 8yr old daughter thinks I should not help her in the shower anymore. I know she does not wash her hair correctly. I have tried to see if she can do it by herself and there is no way she is getting her hair cleaned. She has very curly hair and she doesn't even get the back of her hair wet. I am sick of fighting with her everyday about this.

i never got to really cuz she's always working and i understand why. i appreciate what i have. parents,education,home, food, etc.
just never really got to spend that time.
do you think this could affect your child as he/she grow older?
i has affect me. not in a good way. i'm 16. it's too late now because she's working,dad too,and i'm busy with school.
i'm not complaining. i'm just saying.
