I have 4 children ages 10,9,9, and 6. Each day after school I let them choose a 30 minute show they like right after they finish their home work and then they go off to play usually out side so they can burn the excess energy they have after being cooped up all day.

During the school week no more than 1-2 hours...after homework is completed, but they have to turn it off an hour before bedtime. Studies show that children who are allowed to watch TV up until their bedtime do not sleep as well as those who turn it off 1-2 hrs before they lay down. My boys are 11 & 13.

Don't let you child watch to much tv. It will become addictive and kids need to be outside, being active. Its ok to watch tv for a few hours. Watch what your child is watching. Expose him with learning shows. No violence.

my 9 and 7 year old watch an hour a day on school days, and usually quite a bit more on the weekends, it depends on what's on. If there's something special they get to watch more. I usually shoo them outside for exercise or read a book.

I don't let my 14 month old watch any tv but she happen to catch teletubbies one day and loved it so she watches that everyday. She only half pays attention and would rather be read too. No skin off my nose!
