i have a goldfish that lives in an outdoor pond along with many other types of fish which we've had for many many years. However, over the last month or so this one goldfish has gotten very fat and seems to always stay at the top of the pond only going deeper is something scares it. So my question is, is my fish ill or pregnant or what? It's been like it for about a month.

There is like this reddish discoloration on all my plants and the glass. Did the guppies kill the Danios and if so why? They have been living together in peace for about a month. I am thinking of adding tetras to the aquarium now, will the guppies kill them?

I have a 29 gallon tank with a 30-60 Gallon Filter, an adjustable heater that keeps the water at 76-80F. In it I currently have 1 male betta, 2 neons, 1 male bronze cory, 1 female bronze cory, 2 female peppered cories, and 1 balloon molly. I feel bad considering that most of these fish are schooling fish, so I want to get some more fish. I was thinking of getting 4 more neons, 2 more bronze corydoras, 2 more peppered corydoras, and 3 female balloon mollies. So the tank would read the following
- 6 neons 9"
- 4 bronze corydoras 8"
- 4 peppered corydoras 12"
- 4 balloon mollies 8"
- 1 male betta 3"
19 fish total
40" of fish total
Considering the fact that I have overfilteration and do 1/3 water changes every weekend, would this be overcrowded?

A couple of my goldfish seem to be scraping their bodies on things in the tank now and then. They don't have any other symptoms of ich or parasites -- how should I treat this? I am going to try another partial water change. Is this definitely an illness, or is it a reaction to something else? I have been keeping the tank clean and at normal levels, but a recent high normal level had one of my fish floating near the top, which she stopped once I did another partial water change. Should I do a greater water change, or treat them? Last time I got a new fish was about a week ago or so. Thanks!

I have a black moor fish (which is adorable by the way). It keeps floating to the top of its bowl and tries to swim down, but it fails. No matter how hard my poor fishy tries, it always floats to the top of its tank. I am beginning to wonder, is it underweight so it can't sink?

At Petsmart, I saw that they had a Dwarf Puffer Fish in the freshwater section. The label said that they prefer brackish water. I want to get that fish, but I don't want to damage my other fish with the salt. Will the Dwarf Puffer be ok in my freshwater aquarium? Also will he be compatible with my other fish (platies, danios, guppy, gourami, and pleco)?

I found an amazing glass bowl, and thought it would be beautiful with a single fish in it. I've seen people with goldfish in a bowl with just water. Is that okay? I feel like it wouldn't be healthy or fun for the fish.

Please let me know if this is okay for a fish, before I go and place one in the bowl I purchased.
Also, if it is okay, are there any other fish that would do well in a plain bowl like that? Maybe one of those beta fish?

At the moment, i use a breeder net hanging on the side of my aquarium to keep the fry in but one of my friends, who used to keep goldfish, has a small hexagon tank. It's pretty basic and i would need to buy a heater for it but should i get it from him as i could get it very cheaply (or maybe even free!)

Reply soon please
:)

Someone special to me wants to keep pet fish. She wanted clownfish, but since they are marine fish I dont think she wants to go thru the whole hassle of mantaining a salt-water aquarium. She is a novice, as am I, at keeping fish as pets. Can someone help us out with choosing what fish to get? She loves clownfish cuz they look cute...are there any fresh-water fish that are similiarly cute-looking, and easy to keep? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions...what fish to get, aquarium needs, etc. Thanks!
