does the male beta's tank has to be next to the female's tank to get the male to make a bubble nest? my female is ready to breed, but the male hasn't made the nest yet. the females egg thing is popping out, but the male hasn't built the nest. =[ any foods to help the male get ready?

hello, i recently setup my 30 gallon tank. a few days ago i purchased 2 red tailed sharks an 1 albino oscar, i was informed to put in two sharks with one oscar. so far so good - what am i to look for if they are to get violent towards each other? and how am i to tell if i have a female oscar or shark?

I don't like how my female fish chases the other female fish. She leaves the males alone though. Why? & does her chasing traumatize the other girl fishie? I mean I'm trying to get them pregnant but I'm afraid this will prevent her from having normal babies & that they might be still born or something. Is it causing damage or not?

I used a chemical a pets mart to get the water clear again. Now it is really, really clear...However, am I only masking the problem? Will it do this again soon?

We didnt know anything about them when we got them and we had know idea what they go through to get to their colors. They are in a healthy environment and we'd rather have them here then at the nasty pet store.

My boyfriend and I just bought an algae eater and i really want to know what kind he is. Its nothing ive ever seen before. I tried looking online and am having a hard time. He is very small, and a blackish yellow color with medium size yellow spots. His stomach is even a yellowish color.

Please help! and if you have a website for me please add it in your response

i have a beta in a 1 or 2 gallon tank and algae grows on the side constantly. I'm sure there are chemicals or etc. i can get, but i've thought about getting an algae eater to keep it tidy instead and i was wondering if its safe?I just need to know if its a good idea or if i should go with other options (educational answers only please!!)

My blind cave tetra has a red lump on his head. He is not eating and is sitting in the top corner of my tank sucking in the occassional air bubble.

One of my zebra danios developed open red sores and died in the tank. After I removed the dead fish, I went to PetSmart and they told me to use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals E.M. Erythromycin packets over a four day period to kill the bacteria. I am worried b/c three days before I purchased 4 grass plants and one snail. I only have two packets left then the treatment is complete. But I'm a nervous wreck b/c the tank is in it's 4th week of cycling. The two Mickeys and six zebra danios have been together for three weeks now. Should I finish the treatment and see if it kills the snail? Or should I remove the snail and plants into a bucket of freshwater until the treatment is finished and I do a 100% water change - the instructions recommended a final 25% water change only.

I know to look for swim bladder problems..like when the fish is crooked etc.

However, I would like to know what other warning signs there are that a fish is sick or needing help.

I'm talking about tropical fish: guppies, platy, tetras, etc.

i got some goldfish from a carnival and all of them keep going to the top of the tank and sucking up water and air then blowing out bubbles. whats up with this? is it normal?
