I've got a 150 gallon tank and would like to plant a nice aquatic garden and then add fish. The more research I do, the more options I come up with, the more confusing it becomes. Everything from speciality products like eco-complete to play box sand, kitty litter, garden loam - help! Real life suggestions from real people would be greatly appreciated. (I really don't think I would ever try the kitty litter, but some people use it...)
Thanks.

I have 3 yellowslab and 2 auratus and 1 tiger barbe fish, i recently received the yellowslab and auratus fishes but the tiger fish its been by itself for about a month and the friend that gave me the yellowslab and auratus fishes told me that the tiger fish might attack the other fishes or the other way around.

right now i have the tiger fish separate from the other fishes but I'm thinking in putting the tiger fish with the others, what should i do?

I have been looking online for a while now and i'm just a little confused with the lingo. What im wondering is will a waterfall filter, like the one i use in my freshwater tank, work in a salt water tank if it is joined by live rock and a protein skimmer? Also if there are any other little tips for a nano tank i would much appreciate.

Hey, this is the same guy who asked about what fish I should put in my tank, and if I put chilids in my tank, would they kill my small catfish looking fish and my sucker fish? Thanks.

My fish tank filter killed my three fish in 5 weeks. I cleaned the filter or replaced it every 2 weeks like it said. They still died. I did not feed them too much or too little. I even left the conditioner for the water in as long as it said and the right amount of it too. I did every thing right. When I took the fiter out it was really slimmy and stuff. It sucked up all of the food. It would not filter the water for long because it would get clogged to fast.

I have recently recieved a 55 gal. fish tank for Christmas, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what fish I should throw in there. I do not however want to overpopulate it, and I am looking for colorful freshwater fish. I also want the fish to be either good community or semi-aggressive-- no killers!

P.S.: I was also looking to get atleast 1-2 gouramis in there, is there any other species of that fish besides the Dwarf Gourami? Thanks.

hoca can i reduce amonia level, i have a 10 gallon tank and am trying to cycle it.
I have added one 2 small tetras to it. They seem to be doing good and playful for almost 3 days now.

I checked the ammonia level and they care coming up to .5ppm which is showing stress (light green ) on the test kit.

how do i reduce it.
In fact it has been the same all since the day 1...

shoud i be concerned with it or is it ok?

If so how do i reduce the amonia level, i do not want to add bottled water as it may screwe up all the ph levels..

thx

I have an aquaone 320, how do I find out what size light it is?

I also would like to get a slightly less bright one if possible? One I can still see the fish with but that it won't scare the living daylights out of them with?

I have a male betta in a ten gallon tank with a filter and a heater; fake plants and a stump with holes swim through. I want two know if this is a good combo:

- 1 male Betta (Of course!)
- 5-6 Neon Tetras
- 2-3 Otocinclus

My questions are:

- Is this a good combo?
- Will the tetras nip bettas fins?
- Will the betta eat tetras?
- Will otos work with tetras and bettas?
- Are ottos hard to care for?
- How do I feed otos?
- Will neons share betta food or do I have to buy more food for the tetras?

Also my betta attacks his tank sometimes [his reflection I guess] so I put paper on the back and on the right side. He still fights the walls with the paper and he fight the walls without also.

- What can I do about that?
- Will he eventually give up?

Thanks! Answer all my questions thouroughly and I will give you best answer!!

I currently have a 30gal community tank and two small 1-2 gal tanks (possibly for fry?) now i'm thinking of getting another 10-20 gal for keeping the males, is this a good idea?

My plan was to keep the female guppies/endler's live bearers in the community tank and all the males in the 10-20 gal then, when i want to breed them, or when they are ready i put a male and a female into one of the breeding tanks is that going to work?

then once the females are about to give birth, put them into the breeding tank, obviously keeping the fry apart from the parents. I'm not into creating a new strain of guppy, just bringing out the best traits of them, and yes i will be culling the less pretty ones.

I may cross breed with the endlers, are the offspring fertile?

Can i do this with those tanks?

Hey! I recently bought my Beta fighting fish, and the shop owner told me to feed it 2 of those little dots of food, every other day. My fish always seemed to be REALLY hungry, so I looked online, and some people say that you should feed them around 2 pellets a day. I then looked at the fish food bag (should've looked when I bought it, but I took the owner's word) and it says to feed it 2-4 pellets 2-3 times DAILY!!!! Who should I listen to?? I have the Betta-Bio Gold fish food.
