Please Help! I have a 20 gallon Aquarium with 6 fish....pH is 7.0.....Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrates are Zero...The water is great. 5 of my fish are thriving and really healthy. But one of the, is swimming vertical..my female dalmatian molly. I was thinking she might be pregnant..her stomach is large and is sort of boxed out at the bottom....However, I don't think that being pregnant would cause her to swim vertical! Her feces look white and stringy...can someone please help me save her?! It would mean the world...I know it sounds weird, but this is my favorite fish and I am really attached to her...she swims right up to your face when you look at the tank...:P I really want to help her in any way possible. Thank you!

my nephew poured almost all of my algae disks and fish flakes in the tank, and by the time I came home and noticed it was dirty and cloudy. I changed the water, but three of the fish died. I have two left and one does not look well (pale and flaking). I changed the water again, but it is bubbling and I am not sure what to do or add. The tank was my mothers and now I am caring for it but I do not know what to do in this situation. I was ok and the fish were great but now I am confused and do not want them to die...

I received a 75 gallon tank from a friend (who passed away). Tank came with 65 fish (3 angels, 35 neons, 8 barbs, etc.). Kept the sand and plants and filters that came with the tank. I only changed the water after I moved the tank to my house. It's been 9 weeks and every time I read the ammonia level it's between 2.0 and 4.0. I have used AmQuel a few times to help the fish. Have done 3 water changes at 30% each time. Thoughts?

I have a penguin 170 bio wheel filter and it will work for about 2 hours and then completely stop spinning until I push the wheel and then it starts back up. The unit itself is about 3 years old, but the biowheel, the stand it sits on, and the filter is brand new. Anyone have any idea why its doing this? This is a freshly setup tank, well its been cycling for 2 months but it has no fish in it yet. It is a saltwater tank. I took it apart today it ran, then stopped again. Any ideas without buying a new one would help out a lot. Thanks

I am trying to decide whether or not to get a betta. They fish are very pretty, but all of the specimens I have seen look sickly and are kept in tiny tanks. I wouldn't mind buying one of them and giving it a good home, but if the fish is sickly and stands a good chance of dieing i don't wanna bother with it. Do the fish perk up and get healther when you provide them an adequate home?

Any suggestions? My room is not big enough for a tank. It isn't properly heated, and often gets very cold. Are there any fish that will survive this weather? I'd really like to have a fish.
Thanks!

I have 3 black skirts in my 30 gallon tank and they are getting huge, I mean they have really grown since I got them 6 months ago. I am going to get another aquarium next month and would like to get a 50 or more. ( it is an addictive, fun hobby)
In the new tank I would like2 of each gourami's, mollies, rainbow fish and cherry barbs. If these tetras keep growing would it be ok to move them into the bigger tank with the above fish I mentioned or would those fish be to aggressive. I have noticed that the bigger the black skirts get, they seem to be a little bolder and do chase the smaller fish.

Last Friday I did my monthly cleaning to the inside of the glass with the scrubber. The water appeared cloudy prior to doing it. The next day it had not cleared up so I put in a new filter pad. Still cloudy. Took a sample to the fish store today, said the p.h. was off the chart and my fish were literally burning up , so she gave me the ph up to neutralize the water. She said to start slow, maybe half the recommended dose today and the rest tomorrow and re-test the water. I have added half of the recommended teaspoon. Then she said to add some of the amquel tomorrow also. Would it be ok to add clear up drops or should I wait to see what happens with the ph. The fish, which are black skirts, red eyes , rasboras seem to be fine, eathing , doing the little bit of chasing they normally do. I will feel terrible if I lost them !

Now I need to have a splake again, the problem is, how do I breed a char and a yamame trout? They are so agressive to each other..... thats why its a miracle if I see a splake fry. I only have 1 Yamame Trout and 74 Char(numbers are overwhelming isnt it) so how could I make these 2 species to have peace treaties and mate.

For those who dont know CHAR:
Size:5"-1'04"
This is a Nikko-Char, a strain of the White-Spotted Char, characterized by its small white spots on its back and flanks. They are mutiple spawners that spawn each year after maturation.
They are known to grow up to 1'06" in rivers and 5'00" in lakes. Life expectancy is about 6 years.

YAMAME TROUT:
Size:Ave. between 5" to 1'00"
The most notable charactheristic are the 10 or so large oblong or parr marks found along the flanks.
This is for the 2nd batch of answerers.
I already had a splake but then it died from fish lice.
I need to have one more

Just got two spotted green pufferfish, I put them in my tank last night and this morning I noticed that one fish has a sort of white spot on both it's eyes. the other one has it on one of his eyes..

I didn't notice it yesterday, but i didn't really have a good look. I'm assuming that if it is ick, they got it from the store tank because i've only had them for about 14 hours.

Btw, my tank is has fresh water from a day ago, not yet cycled but I already added conditioner to get rid of the chlorine...

Which one of these do better in ponds? Not interested in Koi. Theyre fascinating and probably more beutiful and hardy than any of these but i dont have the space in my yard to keep koi. These below are the only ones im able to purchase or "save".

Common Goldfish?
Comets?
Shubunkins?
Ryukins?
Orandas?
Fantails?
Black Moors?

Oh and how many gallons of pond do i need to keep 2 goldfish?

I bought 2 rainbow sharks about a month ago along with 2 bala sharks 5 tiger barbs and a sucker fish. The two rainbow sharks got along fine until about a week ago when the bigger one attacked the smaller one and killed it. Now he is swimming around more that before and is picking on my bala sharks. All of my fish live in a clean well circulated 30 gal. tank.

What can I do?

I don't want to get rid of him, but if he kills more of my fish I kind of have to.

I have a new 75 gallon African cichlid tank, would like to use sand in it.My other tanks all have gravel,my water is hard as nails.
Is sand OK in your experiences? I am thinking of white silica, like they use for sandblasting.Guy at Petsmart wanted me to use crushed coral,it would have cost a small fortune for a 100 pounds or so.
Thanks!

I did have mollies and platies in one 30 gallon tank, but they reproduced to the point that they were at risk of over crowding the tank, so I removed the males and put them in their own 30 gallon.

In the "boy's tank", there are 2 mollies, 3 platies and an angel. The mollies and angel are happy and active, but my platies tend to hide. There are 2 juvenile ones that are more active than their father, but still, they tend to hide most of the time and even dug a hold under a bit of driftwood to hide in. I never knew platies would do that.

Is this normal? When they were in the other tank they were active and almost never hid. Also in the other tank, they didnt divide themselves, but now they seem to be in separate small schools...the mollies and platies really dont associate with each other, whereas in the "girl tank" they dont seem to even notice they are different.

Are platies naturally more shy than mollies? Or do I have to worry about them being ill?

i have hillstream loaches and white cloud mountainminnows in the tank and would like a peaceful solitary coldwater fish to add to complete a community setup, preferably in size range of 15 to 20 cm approx.
thanks for any suggestions (and no my tank is not already overstocked, many aquarists whove seen it and shops have told me it isnt so there is plenty room for the extra fish so no offense no advice please on cycling or overstocking etc
thank Nick
p.s ok then 2 hillstream loaches (may buy 1 more) on driftwwod fed algae wafers, (2inches and 2.5 inches) and 8 mountain minnows.(may buy 4/5,more) the tank is aerated with a airr pump for the loaches and a filter which is OVER filtration so as to ensure filtration is more than required. there is good water flow over the loaches patch and it is a good setup for them.
