Do you think they should split the fish catagory into
saltwater and freshwater and then other stuff?
Would make sense to me but i dunno
Where can you make suggestions? lol

But for the people that regularly answer these questions it would be so much easier. I mean, i dont know anything about marine aquariums and stuff.
It might also help to discourage people that answer the questions without having any idea what they are talking about :P

No... Maybe you've noticed, but there aren't a whole lot of questions in here... Splitting it into two categories means two things: you will have two very slow moving boards instead of one relatively sluggish board, and it would be a total pain for the people that have (and answer) in both saltwater and freshwater tanks...
I think it would be better if it was called aquariums or aquatic pets, so it would encompass plants, corals, inverts, maintenance, ponds, and equipment, as well as preventing questions about fishing, cooking/eating fish, and others like that...
Soop Nazi
EDIT: It is much easier to skip over a saltwater question than it is to switch back and forth between two categories though... I don't think we need to prevent unknowledgeable posters at the expense of the knowledgeable ones either... If somebody says something wrong, either email them, or post that you disagree...
LOL, Emily, actually, you wouldn't... that's a statement, not a question... :~) I know, lots of people do it, and it gets really annoying...

I personally don't think it would discourage some people from answering if all they're after is the points. And it would just make it that much more difficult for the people who do have experience/knowledge to make sure all the questions are answered adequately if they have to jump back and forth. I used to do just that, answering in both fish and reptiles (I started in that forum and used to be a top contributor there as well), plus a few in general pets and birds, and science and math. But when I was doing that, there were a lot fewer questions than there are now. I still answer the occassional question in another forum, but spend most of my time in fish now.
I know the categories are more divided in an actual fish forum, but Yahoo! is too general for that.
I do like the idea of renaming this forum so it doesn't get the occassional question about fishing or cooking fish (but that's usually the fault of the automatic system in classifing the question, and the person asking doesn't pay attention when they submit it). And in my personal opinion, all the "Help me name my _____" questions should go into Polls and Surveys category.

It would make sense, but some people, like me, have brackish tanks. Plus, their are some fish that are of the same species that can live in different tanks, some freshwater can live in brackish and some brackish can live in saltwater, and some saltwater can live in brackish. Plus you may have like, saltwater mollies and people in the brackish section may be looking for mollie questions to answer and not get to answer yours when they are the only ones to know the answer. This would be confusing for people who answer questions, I like it the way it is. However on the surface it seems like a great idea. Also, I completely agree with the soopnazi.

They're all fish.
Do you want to divide the cat section into Siamese, Persian, etc. whilst you're at it? =P Do you not think it would get a bit over the top?
I like fish, by the way. I like the plopping noise my Nana's fish make when the black one goes crazy in the pond and starts jumping about and scaring the other fish. Which section would I have put that declaration under? Pondfish? Blackfish? =P
Nah just kidding =D I would give you different sections just to make you happy - because I'm kind!
Edit:
nosoop... - Why couldn't I? =( Lots of people leave statements and then expect answers so why can't I do it?! =( Anyway, I could put, "Do you like the plopping noise that black pond-fish make when they jump around?" and then leave the rest as random information =D There you are, problem solved! Lol...
So, which section would it go in now, eh?! =P
Mind you, if I specify black fish I might be accused of being racist =(
