in answer to my previous question about my stressed out anenomea iodine was refered to as important to crustation molting .does this affect the health of other invertabea? and i just put mr. squishy (thats the anenemea's name) into the tank about 24 hrs ago after an hour and a half slow drip adjustment period.he's not really opening very far and i assume this to be a sign of stress.he did move to the spot he's in now on his own so i assume he likes it.my lighting is marine-glo,ocean-glo,and a corallife 50-50 (3 full length florecent tubes)figure i got the bases covered there.......am i just impatient.....what is a normal settling in time frame for sebea,seabe..??? anenomea? thx

i have a 30 gallon tank with a undergravel filter and a HOB filter for a 60 gallon tank. i have 4 small peacock bass in the tank (around 2 inches). i had the tank set up for about a week then dumped in some bio spira and the next day added 6 peacock bass. the tank has been up for a total of about three weeks now and i had no problems but last night i found 2 of them dead so i did a water test and my ammonia was at 0 but my nitrate and nitrite are off the charts any ideas?

Is there any hope in keeping two female bettas alone in a tank together? I had a trio of female bettas that got along great, then one recently passed and all hell has broken loose. One will just not leave the other one alone. The bullied one took to hiding in a cave all the time, until the dominant one discovered that’s her hiding place and now the dominant one is constantly checking the cave (this dominant one seems smart and persistent). So the bullied one has started wedging herself in a group of leaves that rest close to the surface of the water to hide. Sometimes she gets on a leaf that is too high and a bit of her top side is actually out of the water, which seems dangerous to her health to me. I am thinking it would be best to buy a 2nd tank to separate them, but I would be open to buying a larger tank to keep them together if more space would help them get along (they are in a 5-gallon tank now).

My fish (who has never refused to eat or shown any sign of illness in its entire 5 1/2 year life) was absolutesly fine yesterday but this morning she would not eat her food and lay on the bottom with her fins clamped, although she has been swimming around ever since. In about the past 1/2 hour the water's gone from clear to cloudy white and if you look closely there are little white fibres floating in it but they are not sticking to her and they are not moving of their own accord (the filter was off for over six hours but its on now and I'd say its getting worse if anthing). The only other things that I can thin of are that she lay eggs on sunday and later that afternoon we cleaned her out. I'm really really worried, particually as my other fish Silver died of dropsy six months ago. Please please help me if you can!!!!!!!

I currently own a 20 gallon freshwater tank. I haven't gotten around to setting it up yet because I've been doing alot of research online about aquariums. I plan to use live plants and a school of Tetra fish (neons) to start with. I have read that Cory Cats are good "bottom feeders" but how many do you suggest I add to my tank? Two? Three? Do I buy one male and two females? Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi, a friend of mine has a tropical setup and is wanting to get a nicer cabinet to go with his 60 x 18h x 15w tank. He likes the look of the Juwel Rio 400 cabinet in dark wood and was wondering if this would be ok with his tank?

The rio cabinet is 20 inches wide and the tank 15" . The tank would be at the front of the cabinet so therefore would not be resting on the rear panel of the cabinet as the tank is 5inches less wide. Can anyone see any problems with this? Thanks for any replies.

I mean its a weird thing, they are doing great. The Oscar is a "Fancy" or so they said, and Hes around 5' or so

I've heard several things about apple snails and wanted to get things straight:

1. Since it does take two snails to breed, are the males and females seperate or do they just exchange sperm?

2. If they are seperate, how do you tell the difference?

Planning to get a 35 gallon pond in my backyard. Which Goldfish would do better in a pond of that size and how much of them can i put in there. here are my options, Ryukins, Orandas, or Shubunkins. If it matters, i live in california and the coldest it gets here is about 35 degrees f (nightime) through 60 (daytime) from mid november- february. I am open to other goldfish type suggestions if any. No answers about "get a bigger pond." please!!! .thanks to the people who answer.

My female molly has been pregnet for over 6 weeks, EASY!
Last time she droped her fry, she did so at 4 weeks. Like most of my mollys .
Is it possible that the fry have died inside my molly and she can not deliver them. Or is she stressed cause i have had her in and out of the breeding net because she looks like she is ready to drop all the time as i want to keep the fry away from my other fish in the tank.
What can i do to help her as she does not look comftable with her self.
I tried inducing her by putting the temp up 2 degrees. This has not worked.
I was going to put her back in the big tank and just let her go till next time. But i am concerned that the fry are dead inside her. and this may kill her as well.
Thanks for any help you can give me. Jasmin

Just bought an apple snail a few days ago and wanted to know about breeding them:

1. Can they lay eggs on their own or do they require another snail?

2. Is there anything special i need to do to get them to breed or to take care of the babies? Or are they fine on their own?

Please don't leave other information, what i'm asking is what I want. I'm an experienced breeder, please don't treat me like a novice.
