Ok, Well I have one female beta fish in a non-filtered fish tank..like a $15 one because i wanted to get a fish in a hurry and I didn't have much money to buy a pretty good, filtered fish tank. Well, First of all I was wondering if there is a pretty cheap filtered fish tank, it can be any size that you think will fit about 3-5 fish and will make them live long..Second, I was wondering what kinds of fish can you put in with a beta fish because I noticed before my old beta fish always fights with my other beta fishes..But now I only have one. Third, I was wondering what kind of fish food should i get; flakes or the ball pebbles, because one of my fishes died because i used to use the pebbles and they were pretty big for it to eat up because it was a pretty small beta fish so yea..Fourth, I was wondering where I should keep the fish tank for example, like in direct sunlight or in a dark place...Pleae answer my questions. Have A Good Day! ^.^

Is there anything else I can do, this is the third goldfish in three weeks. I bought two for my son and they seemed to be doing well however I have since been advised I have unintentionally killed them with kindness by changing the water and feeding them too often (also having two fish in a bowl would not have helped)
:( so I've now Ive taken the advice on board, have just got the one fish in the bowl but it just hides behind the ornaments and doesn't swim

He used to be gold/orange with like 1-2 white patches, and I went to school for a few weeks and came back and now he is completely white! My family says they aren't sure when he started turning white. Is there something wrong with him? Will he be okay? He seems fine, but I want him to stay that way! What should I do?

I put some kernels of corn in the tank....not sure what got into me.....but the snail LOVED it...so I put more in the next day...now he/she is hardly moving. When I poked at him/her about a dozen little air bubbles came out of his/her shell. His/her little door is closed and barely moving. Maybe she's just digesting...I hope???

and breathing heavily. He/she looks miserable. Would it be best to remove this fish to save the lives of my others, or is it too late for them all. I have treated for ich about 2 hours ago when I noticed it. Went to store and bought ich meds, fungas meds, and ammonia reducer. I know sounds horrible, but should I remove that fish.

I just bought a gallon tank and two small goldfish from walmart. They have a little castle which they are almost always in but today they are at the top just sitting there (not dead). I thought maybe they were hungry even though i feed them earlier so i put a few flakes in there and they ate a little but they are still at the top. It's kinda of scaring me =[ And also the water is cloudy and I just put it in there yesterday and put something in there to kill all the bad stuff, (the lady told me to do it at the store). I am scared if I change the water it mite scare them to death since i just bought them yesterday and it was kind of a long ride home. Is this normal? I have never had fish before.

I have a 10 gallon tank I plan on turning into a quarantine tank because I'm going to get a 20 gallon. Right now it has a 20 gallon filter, air stone, gravel, 3 fake plants, heater, fake rock setup, thermometer, and it has been cycled for about 2 months now. Should I take anything out? Also I know its a good idea to quarantine new fish and watch them for a while before adding them to a new tank, so I was wondering how long you should quarantine fish.

I heard that fancy goldfish are sterile and can't have babies. If that's true, then how do they reproduce?

I have a 20 gallon tank. In it I have 1 frog, one pleco, 2 dalmation molly, 4 sunburst molly and 2 black molly fish. I know I have been overfeeding and am gradually cutting back to 1 pinch 2x's a day. The nitrite level is still registering barely in the safe area, the nitrate level is in danger zone. My fish don't seem to be stressed, but, after a 25% water change, the levels are still the same. What can I do? I put in an ammonia remover, but no effect. I change 20%-25% water once a week. Should I just let it alone and hope for my fish to survive? Also one dalmation is prego and is slowly birthing, which I am leaving in the tank. I know the fish will eat the babies, but hey, population control. have seen 2 babies so far, still living in the tank. She is still very very fat.

I haven't had my tank for too long... and it's pretty cloudy (white color) but every time I test it, everything is normal. So, I'm pretty sure I'm just waiting for it to cycle now...

Ok. My fish has been fighting for a long time, I recently helped her get through Dropsy (I know, amazing! Blown up like a balloon for weeks and then just...deflated one day!) and now she has what I assume looks like the white, stringy type fungus on two places of her body. One is on her stomach where most of her strching was, so it is somewhat transparent. It looks like a little white blob almost. It's on the inside of her skin, but it looks like it is coming out.

The other one looks like a puff trying to come out from under a few gills of hers on her back.

I think it's just that fungus that fish can get, and I have been giving her paraguard, and a few other things intermittently. I also have some maracyn2, should I try that?!

I don't know what to do, I just want my fish to get rid of what's ailing her once and for all.

I have a 2 inch largemouth bass in a 240 gallon. I could barly afford a large enough habitat for him, so I dont want to be shelling out $200 a year to be feeding him all feeders. I dont want to breed livebearers for food for him. Could I slowly ween him off feeders until he only eats maybe one a day, a worm a day, and the rest pellet food. Would this be ok? Could I even do it?

I cant decide to set up a native tank or go with the oscar. I'm leaning towards the bass because they are definetly smarter. I know one drawback is that bass have to eat only live food, which will get pricey over time.

I have two half moons I have spawned, but it turns out my infusoria colony is a bacteria colony, that will most likely kill the fry. I have some wardey's baby fry food for egglayers and livebearers that I used for my guppy fry it's a gell and I also have hikari first bites and some other baby fish food. Microworms are not an option at the moment and neither are viniger eels, i might have an infusoria culture from ym guppy fry tank, it's green water with some algae. I also have some baby brine shrip that are frozen and also some that I can hatch but I know I have to wait a few days before they can eat brine shrimp. Please help!

Please help me! I'm trying to set up a 2.5 gal. nano planted tank but for that I need good lighting. What lighting fixture(s) can you easily find at Petco or Petsmart that will increase plant growth and fit in a 2.5 gallon tank hood? Please give me the name of it or them.

Thanks to anyone who answers!
