Recently I purchased a Black and Red Oranda Goldfish. I have done some research on the breed. When I got my Goldfish (Helio) he was a beautiful golden red with a black stripe down his back and on the tips of his tail and dorsal fin. It's been a few months and now his black coloring is gone. He is just one solid color (Red). I understand that the breed has a helmet-like growth on their heads and it grows as they mature, but can the color change as well?

I also have a Calico Ryukin Goldfish and a Pleco in the same tank.

My comet goldfish is about 3 inches long and he's in a 10 gallon tank by himself. I recently had 3 fish in that tank, but the two of them died of swim bladder. Anyway, my fish, Bob keeps swimming back and forth. He swims from one end of the tank and bumps into the glass then he swims the other direction and he does this most of the day. He doesnt go into the back and do it then goes to the front, he just stays in the front of the tank. There are no physical difference with him, but I recently noticed that he seems to be more hungry. He goes to the top to look for food. And when he is usually pacing, hes like 1 inch below the water level. I have one whisper filter and a bubbler if you need that info. Do you know what is going on?

I have a female blue gourami that has recently started resting on the bottom of the tank. It's dorsal fin is clamped down on its body, and its gills appear very red on the inside. I also have a male dwarf gourami and another smaller honey dwarf grourami in the tank, and they appear to be fine. Anybody know what could be wrong with the blue gourami? My chemical levels are good, and I do frequent water changes. If it is sick, is there any type of medication I can get for it?

My female red wag platy has been looking unusualy fat lately. My male has no similar symptoms and I'm wondering if she is getting ready to spawn. She has a round belly and seems to be quite healthy. How can i tell if she's pregnant and if she is how should i care for it?

After 8 years (!!!) the sole resident of my 5 gal Eclipse hex is RIP. She was a little female betta who was fiercely agressive.

I have cleared out the tank, done a new set up with plastic plants & natural pebble gravel and in a couple of days, I will be ready for new fish.

SO......what should I put in it? I am thinking 3 female platies....thoughts?

Also, how do I clean the tank? What should I use? Is there something that I could use that's around the house because, I am low on cash? Thanks for your help.

Sorry for inconvenience just had to share a bit of history abt it. I complaint to the fish farm and to cut the story short managed to get them to compensate me with medication. The man at the counter dont really speak english. He gave me a kg of salt and a packet of 'yellow powder' to pour in my pond. The packet only has japanese text on it thus I dont know what it is. However I did as advised. My kois are all better now and active. The water is yellowish due to the powder.

a) What is that powder?

b) Been two days now. I hadnt change the water since i poured in the salt and powder medication. There are lotsa bubbles forming at the water surface. They look like bubblenest. What causes this? Is this harmful? Shd I be changing the water?

1- Should I put anything into the water to make them healthier? Or just plain water from the faucet?
2- When I change a portion of the fish tank water weekly, is it a good idea to boil the new water to kill all the germs or not? Ofcourse I am going to leave the boiled water for a few hours to cool down. I am just wondering if the procedure of boiling the water safe and useful or not.
3- Is there any kind of home food that I can give to the Guppies? I buy that stuff from the guy at the pet store, I was just wondering if there is anything else , like fruits or vegetables, that I can give to them.
4- What is the best food that can be given to baby Guppies?
5- How much is a Guppy fish in America? I was just wondering since I am not from America. I live in Egypt.

The thing is I have a 72 gallon salt water fish tank that I had gottenas a gift. He came and set it up and when we put my fish from my smaller fish tank in to the larger the shrimp died and then the damsels started to nip at the other fish. I the bought a sand sifter and an angle fish once I had removed the damsel that is but soon after the angle fish started to do the same thing to the sand sifter. Then out of no where I woke up and the angle fish was dead. So we did a water change to get rid of the toxicants that may cause future death. we also got a gray angle to re place the other angel fish when we went away for 2 days and my friend came to feed it, it was dead. During this whole time we had 2 mandarin gobies that were doing great up until last night when I woke this morning I found one of them dead and can’t find the other. I have thought of everything I even got a top of the line protein skimmer also I check everything everyday the timp, ph, the ammonia, the nitrates, what next?
