Fish - August 2007

I'm still cycling it. It's a ten gallon. Everything was great until I added a couple neons from my big tank. It appeared that my betta got ich. Just two white spots on him. So, I treated and did water changes. I took the carbon filter out. As soon as I took the carbon filter out, all hell broke loose. It looks awful. There appears to be fuzz on my real plants and my fish look really stressed. There are no white spots on anyone now. But, still fuzz on the plants and looks like a cottony fungus on one of the neons on his mouth. Can I treat this with water changes and salt? I can't raise my water temp. The heater is not adjustable but the temp is 78. So, will water changes and salt do the trick? I don't want to add another chemical if I don't absolutely have to. Water changes - how often and how much? I did a 50% water change last night. The neons didn't have ich and still show no signs of it. I'm out of test strips right now so I don't know the water parameters.

I just found a new tank but I dopn't now how muchwater it could hold.

We have 3 goldfish and on the food container, it says to feed the fish a penny-sized pinch of food several times a day. We do that, but they always seem to look so hungry and start swimming near the edge of the tank whenever they see someone pass by. I would like to know if the fish could be overfed or if it is safe to feed them very often throughout the day??

I just got a molly from Petsmart 2 days ago. I acclimated the fish and everything that I was supposed to. I tried feeding it 3 hours later, and it didn't want to eat. Then today, tried again, and nothing. All my other fishes are happy and eating (guppies and neon tetras).

except the tail is more clear rather than blue

and another female guppy that i dont have a picture for, but it is mostly clear with a really light yellow color. does anyone know what breed they are? What color fry would i get if they bred with a red delta male guppy (hence my other question)?

ill start of that i have two tanks a 55 gallon and a 15 gallon. in the 55 theres a clown loach, very fat rainbow shark, an 11 inch beautiful polypterus named nessie, well a small pleco and a small cori catfish. anyways long story short i found out nessie would like ghost shrimp when i bought her and storred them in the 15 gallon with the small guppies that came with them. it turned out i was given endler livebearers which are semi-rare fish 2 females and a male, male passed away today. also if you were thinking about the tankmates in the 55 gallon, yes i had an amazing oscar who passed due to two territorial catfish that i nolonger own. the question is that along with the two impregnated guppies are two mollies a male and female, i want to know if my mollies can go in the 55 gallon tank unharmed but nessie. the story was pretty interesting right? thanks to whoever took the time to read all this.

ook so I've read a lot about ICH on here.
I definately know my tank has ICH in it and have an idea on how to treat it. I made the mistake of overcrowding my 10 gallon tank but only 1 fish is showing signs. I had 2 mollies in the tank for about 3 weeks and added 9 tetras (oops) So I took a couple of the tetras out of the tank in hopes of relieving some stress. BUT I stuck them into my new 55 gallon tank with nothing in it yet. Now I'm worried that I've infested the 55 tank with ICH, Is it possible to transfer ich from one tank to another?

PS. the tetras werent even in the 10 gallon for less than 24 hours.

i forgot to cycle my tank before puttting in my fish so i got recomened to do 25% water changes every day for 3 weeks so should i just take out water or use a gravle vacuum? also i aqidentally put 2 more drops then i had to of water purifier will my fish be ok

Hi,it all started when 1 of my 3 betas was missing. 2 days later I find 1 of the remaining 2 bettas in miserable condition, and put it in a bowl.U can c all the pictures @
http://pets.webshots.com/album/560042890sLUEaW .Eventually both the bettas(1 in the aquarium and the 1 in the bowl) died.I asked about this earlier,and most eople thot the bettas faught & injured 1 another.But then my orange mollies & guppies started dying.So i moved the tigerBarbs to a different container.But the fish kept dying.So I removed the angel fish from the tank and put them in a bowl.But the tigerBarbs are all dead now,& the fish are still dying.It is like 1 dead fish every 5 hrs.Btw,I have been doing very frequent water changes,have added antiChorinator,salt,antiBacterial meds.However,the platties and angel fish are ok.Cannot tell u about nitrite levels coz theres nothing here available to test them. Temperature was 33 degrees celcius, but I lowered it to 28 today, and still 1 guppy died right now. HELP!

my little brother wants to start his own new tank. my parents wanted me to help him out. he bought a10 gallon tank. he said he wants me chose the fish. i have a heater so i can have tropical. 1.)are they brightly colored fish. 2.) Saltwater or freshwater 3.) visually pleasing 4.) must be small enough so i can have atleast 5-6 in the 10 gallon tank.

NO GUPPIES

If the fish is in saltwater, how i do i get saltwater. how do i make it.

can i put artificial rocks and also coral in his tank.

I need desperate help!!!!! Both of my fantail goldfish are about 3 inches long and in a 20-gallon tank. One of the fish's tail keeps wanting to go up if he lays still, and the other ones is also sitting at the bottom except his tail doesn't want to go up like the other's.

I've read about mashed, soft peas. We tried feeding them that but they won't eat the peas or their "Top Fin Goldfish Flakes."

We have some plastic plants, a mini-colosseum with air bubbles that shhot out of it, and blue aquarium rocks. The plants have a brown stuff that weren't there when we first bought them. We've had our goldfish for 1 year now, and they have been fairly well. There used to have two other goldfish that lived in the tank but died shortly after we got them (they got here sick).

The fish look healthy but they just sit at the bottom of the tank as if "bored." We don't know how to test the water temperature and we don't have a water heater.

PLEASE HELP QUICKLY!!!

ok well i have more than 1 question ok first im not to sure how many gallons my fishtank is here are there measurements the L is 36in W is 12in and the H is 21in now can someone tell me how many gallons that is also i plan on puting my to chlids in there 1 is an oscar and the other one is a albino should i put some real plants in this tank or no also how much gravel do i need??? and i have a heater the heated my 10 gallon tank very well will this heat this tank? also how much weight will this tank be about when it is full? and i heard something about a gravel vacuum i am not to sure what this is but can you tell me a little about it and where i can get them and the cost for them and is there anything else i need for this tank??

also i got it used and its very dirty how can i clean it
