Ha got ya, this is suppose to be for people that still believe that myth about keeping goldfish in a bowl or a common pleco in a 10 gallon tank

The answer to that is simply NO, and here is why
http://www99.epinions.com/content_318561...

Here is also a site the provides info on proper care for goldfish
http://www.firsttankguide.net/goldfish.php

It says a MINIMUM of 10 gallon per goldfish, right?

Here is the correct info on a common pleco and his needs
http://members.tripod.com/~Boeing_Dude/id192.htm

What does it say here, oh a minimum of 40 gallon, and you want to put him in a 10 gallon?

Wrong information everywhere, constantly I here from people that get advised from store employees that a pleco can go in a 10 gallon and a goldfish can live in a bowl?!?!

Come on people get real and do some research, before you buy ANY kind of fish

Ha got ya, who ever clicked on that question and wanted to answer yes, YOU ARE WRONG

Bettas are NOT happy and healthy in a bowl or in a 1 gallon tank

It's your responsibility to your fish to get at LEAST a 2.5 gallon tank with heater and filter for your betta

There is no truth behind that, that a betta is happy in little bowl?!?!?!

Would you like to be confined to a space of 2X2???
Don't think so

Remember one thing, you're going to cut down your betta's life to about 2 years if you're lucky

But if taken proper care it can live up to 7 years!!!!!

So what would you reather have, a happy and healthy betta or one that has a short expected life because of your iresponsibility?????

Here is also some more info about them

Please to all the store keepers, we know that you have no other way then to keep them in bowls or small cups!!

My female platy has gotten much larger and I think I see a "gravid" spot on her. Tonight she has been acting funny and she appears to have a sort of white "plug" next to her anal fin. Does the appearance of something like this sound familiar?? Any help is great

My crowntail betta fish might have fin rot...I can't tell for sure...can I give it fin rot medication just in case? (in other words, is it ok for me to give the fish fin rot medication given the fact that the fish may not have fin rot after all)?

Is there a better way to remove the soap bubbles then scooping? About every 5-10 minutes i remove the bubbles. The fish i put in there are active and healthy still.. Will this fix the problem?

Hey, I have 6 fish and they all in a big tank. Now in the last month I see that 2 of the fish are always lying down, never swimming and they look so unwell. Is there anything I can do to help them. OR could they just be pregnant.

My fancy oranda goldfish is like twitching it seems like. I have seen him do this before and it always seems to be at night. Is that just something that they do while the sleep or is something wrong and how do I treat it? Ah I'm worried about my fish. He is swimming around tho, just kind of twitchy.

While buying 'pet' food today, my betta obsession took over...and 6 hours and 4 stores later...I rescued a beautiful crowntail. (I'm writing letters about the dead/sick ones I didn't rescue.)

His color is great, fins nearly perfect, flares on cue, but....he is breathing a lil heavily. He is still swimming actively, but I occasionally find him hanging around the bottom huffing n puffing. I noticed this at the store, but chose him anyways...

Anyways, long story short....Is he sick? Or have ammonia poisoning? My water tests great. and I was hoping this would 'fix' him. Is there anything else I can do?? He is eating normally, but a lil shy and hides from me...and the "heavy breathing". He is not having problems swimming, but seems to prefer the bottom of the tank...where my first betta likes the top. (separate 2.5 gal tanks.)

2 weeks ago, he had a white chest but it disappeared. Today, I changed his water, treated the water, fed him and went outside. When I came in 2 hours later, he was white in the fins and some of the body and dead. He was always so active and healthy. He was only 5 months old. what happened to my baby?

I have a 30 gallon tank with and eclipse filter and powerhead for extra aeration. In the tank, I have 4 goldfishes....an oranda, 2 lionheads and a black moor. The 2 lionheads were purchased about a month and a half ago and about a week later the symptoms started...All my fishes started to have splitting tails and septicemia and my oranda lost some scales but grew it back in a week after Melafix. The two older fishes now have "stiff" tail bent in 90 degrees. The melafix & pumix helped with the tail splitting but not the septicemia. I have used maracyn 2 and jungle antibacterial food but neither helped. I've been feeding them peas for the last 4 days thinking it might be healthier than flakes. They swim normal as usual. They eat healthy but worried it might get worse. The water (chlorine, ammonia, nitrate, pH) everything seems to be in order. I also use stresszyme and stress coat. I have been changing 25% of the water daily since I thought it might help. Please advise. Thanks

He is a goldfish from walmart and I have been reading the questions on this site and so many ppl are saying 10 gal. per one fish. I realize goldfish get really big but am kind of in a pinch for money at the moment. I dont want to limit his space but obviously a 55 gallon tank would be overkill at this point and a one gallon bowl is not ok. So my question is just how big do I need? I need to save money but i will NOT keep him in that tiny bowl. Plz help, someone answered 5 gallons and no bigger which would be way cheaper and it got me wondering. All answers appreciated. Thx

My fancy goldfish's back fins seem to be pretty jagged on the edges. He is very energetic and eats and all that, but could that be fin rot or what are other things that could be wrong and how do I treat it? Or is that not a sign of something wrong with Moby? Please let me know!

He is really bloated form one side only and has raised scales only on that part. I'm really worried he might be getting an infection in the raised scales. I want to add some aquarium salt to prevent infections but will the aquarium salt worsen his constipation? I heard that salt can worsen the water retention is this true?

I'm not gonna feed him for 3 days then
I'll feed him a deshelled pea with an epsom chrystal
and follow with peas the next 3 days.
Is this correct?

I recently added four twin bar platys to my aquarium -- now I have about 14.... They're threatening to overrun my tank. What can I do to keep them from breeding successfully, or how can I tell the females from the males?

I use aquarium salt and feed them a diet of fish flakes and algae pellets. I also have mollies (only one baby so far), tetras, etc.

I don't want to kill the fry --HELP!!

My dog found this but idk where and we think it may be prehistoric. It has no lower half so we cant see the fin position and it doesnt have regular scales its not decayed , which fish usually do in a week or two and its "scales" are stiff almost like an exoskeketon. Please give as much information as possible if you can . Thank You

I own a freshwater aquarium, do you need a ultraviolet sterilizer in a tank. Does it help? is it worth the amount of my $70.00. If not is there another cheap way to prevent my fish from getting disease?
