I own a freshwater aquarium, do you need a ultraviolet sterilizer in a tank. Does it help? is it worth the amount of my $70.00. If not is there another cheap way to prevent my fish from getting disease?

the best way to prevent fish from getting sick is to keep their immune systems strong. You do that by imitating the water quality they would have in nature as best you can. Keep the water clean and aerarated. Your fish should be fine if you take care of them properly, a UV sterilizer is just a fancy gimmick.

I agree with the first poster - you don't need one.

The best thing you can do for less than $70 is to buy a 10 gallon tank, cheap filter, and extra 50watt heater and set up a quarantine/hospital tank. Put any new fish in it for 2-3 weeks so you know they're healthy and eating before you put them in the "main" tank. If one of your fish starts being a bully or gets sick, you also have a way of separating it from the others.

A UV sterilizer is a filter out that makes use of extremely violet mild/radiation to radiate microbes interior the water. rather this is a water filter out that makes use of mild extremely of media. they are super for removing the "eco-friendly cloud" algae blooms and doing away with some microbes and parasites. they are super reachable in ponds. some water scientific care centers (municipal water components) use them to filter out faucet water! Your blue mild on the staggering of your aquarium is maximum by using no skill a UV mild. this is basically a blue mild, or actinic bulb. you would be responsive to in case you had one because it can be a cylinder with a super shiny inner mild hooked as much as a water pump on your tank and value you $a hundred+ ;) What parasite do you have and what scientific care? Did you get rid of the carbon (chemical filtration)? Did you do a water exchange first to advance water high quality and facilitate therapeutic?
