The link that future vet provided is a perfect home for a BETTA but NOT a goldfish
I don't know where you live, but here in ca my tank is always around 78-82 without a heater
Get a thermometer to check your temperature before you buy anything else, unless you have your betta in a bowl then you have buy him at least a 2.5 gallon tank

Hope that helps
Good luck

It is not only important for your betta's water to be warm, but also that it be at a constant temperature. Fluctuations in temperature stress your betta out just as badly as cold temperatures.

So even if you have your water fluctuating betwen 76 and 82 degrees throughout the day, even though these are suitable temperatures for your fish, it is the temperature changes that will still stress him out.

The only way to guarantee a warm AND stable temperature is by using an aquarium heater. They come very cheap, especially junior heaters which can be used in 5 gallon tanks or even 1 or 2 gallon tanks.

Desk lamps and "natural" heating is no good, for the reasons I mentioned previously - it does not guarantee a STEADY temperature, which is just as important for your fish as warmth.

Invest in an aquarium heater and your fish will be much happier and more active; not to mention it will help him avoid most diseases common to bettas.

Try a heating pad on low.

WATCH IT CAREFULLY!!!

It will heat the water quickly and you don't want to cook the little guy.

A tight lid is essential of course, and only put a small part of the heater touching the tank at first. Leave it over night, and use a thermometer to check the temperature.

Desk lamps don't get warm enough.

My friend has a fish tank for her betta that had a light that you could turn on. This might help, even just a little bit! It was something like the link below! I know, it says "goldfish" on it, but, it should work! Here is the website link, check it out!:
