ive had a cheesy background on mine for a couple years and ive finally decided that its not foolin me or the fish and DOESNTlook good you really cant even see it because of the way the glass mirrors so it just looks dark and drab. what other options do i have, could i paint the back with just regualar latex paint? creative ideas for a non ceesy backdrop in my aquarium would be appreciate.

My 10 gallon tank is sitting on my dresser now (it holds the tank fine), but the problem is it is near a window. Brown algae just recently started to grow. I was wondering if I should buy a metal stand for the tank and move it to the other side of the room, or if buying a background for the tank would work to keep some sunlight out.

i just used the gravel vacuum to change my water, and used the Aquarium starter test strips to test. everything else seems to be fine, but the pH is in the low range, on the strips, it say to add pH plus, but i can't go to petsmart until end of weekend, what should i add in the mean time? my fish seems fine until now.. i had them for about 2 month now.

what does pH mean? should i add more salt? or stress release?

thanks!!

I have a ten gallon tank in my bedroom with 1 african dwarf frog, 1 catfish, 1 algae eater, and 3 fish. Are there any puffer fish that would be suitable for this setup? I heard they are agressive. I also want one that is not that expensive. Thanks!

I will be getting a 5 gallon tank as soon as I can decide what I want to put in it. At this time, I have a 2 gallon with a betta that has all the bells and whistles (heater, filter... etc). He is happy there, but I want him to have a bit more space. I want to give him more than his plants and rock to hide in. Anyway, therefore, I'd like to move him to a five gallon and give him at least 2 "buddies" (non betta buddies of course). Buddy number one will definitely be an African Dwarf Frog, but first, I have a few questions about them. First of all, I read that some water creatures get sick when exposed to fish medicine. Do frogs? And, if the frog gets sick, would my fishy tollerate frog medicine? I also read that the frogs cannot have gravel nor marbles. What pretty (hopefully green, pink, or black) bottom tank covering can I put in that would suit the betta and the frog? My next question is how do frogs react to aquarium salt? I am so scared of my fish getting... (to be continued)

I am getting two (or maybe more) goldfish in two weeks time, and i have never kept fish before (well we had them in my pond, but i was 5 and i think they all died). I have found a tank (http://www.petsathome.com/invt/15509) which is the ideal size for where i will be keeping them, but i am unsure what to do... is that large enough for 2 goldfish?
what equipment do i need? i've tried researching this on the internet, but its not overly helpful! could anyone maybe find me a suitable filter and/or pump for my tank?
any advice for a first time fishkeeper would be hugely appreciated...i know a bit about feeding, and thats about it!
please help =]
thanks
