show aquariums....

well generally flower pots are what breeders and keepers alike use.

But for a show tank...

try looking at natual stuff like pieces of slate. You can make them into cave structure and they are natural and looks good in a aquarium.

Edit: try looking at home depo they have pecies of slate i believe is sold by the pound. They also have marble which ca be used.

Remeber not to get treated pieces. It can affect your water parameters and you can clean it by simply adding it in warm water for 24 hrs.

I had a 120 gal. Cichlid tank for many years. i used ceramic vases for caves. I would angle them in different directions so the openings did not face each other. They worked great. I had a lot of breeding in that tank.

Landscape rocks. There is a stone yard near my house where you drive over a scale going in and out and buy the rocks by the pound. They have every kind of rocks imaginable and most are between $.08 and $.20 per pound. Just rinse them off pretty well to get rid of the mud.

We went out to the beach, collected all kinds of cool rocks, big and small, took them home and boiled them.(cool 'em off before you put them into tank) Just stack bigger ones making sure there are open spaces underneath and all around. That's how...but no one's as good as my guy at decorating a fish tank naturally.

You can use PVC pipe cut to length, smear it with aquarium grade silicon (used to seal tanks) then cover it with fine gravel. There are several DIY projects in this link: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_list.php
