I have a 39 gallon tank and i'm not sure what type of fish to get. Here's a list of what i would like. Are these compatible? And is the tank big enough for all of them?

1 male betta
1 red tailed shark
1 male swordtail
2 female swordtails
3-4 gold barbs
1 silver dollar

Thanks!

I would also leave out the betta. The barbs and silver dollars are schooling fish, and these should be in groups of 5-6+.

no betta, silver dollars get really big, so the place you get them from, might not recommend it. Like the others said sharks are schooling fish you need more than one, and when you do that add the slowly. You dont want to add all of those fish at one time, wait a few weeks. and when you add more move the decor around

If it was me, I'd leave the betta out of the tank. The rest of the tankmates should be great together. You might want to get more female swords or more gold barbs, but I wouldn't add them all at once unless you do a fishless cycle.

Here's a chart that lists most fresh and brackish water fish, and lists their compatibility with each other:

Petco has a compatibility chart on their website. That's what I used when buying fish. :) Good Luck :)
