ive had a cheesy background on mine for a couple years and ive finally decided that its not foolin me or the fish and DOESNTlook good you really cant even see it because of the way the glass mirrors so it just looks dark and drab. what other options do i have, could i paint the back with just regualar latex paint? creative ideas for a non ceesy backdrop in my aquarium would be appreciate.

Personally, I just use black or blue backgrounds on all my unpainted tanks. I usually spray paint them black on the bottom and back when I get them. On the outside of course. So yes, feel free to paint at will on the outside of a tank with latex paints.
Not too creative I know, but the fish usually stand out well against the black back of the tank and I paint the bottom in case I use the tank without a substrate, such as for a breeding tank or fry tank.

I have several with no background and two with them. One looks like plants and driftwood, and really makes the tank look nice, and the other looks like piles of rocks, which is also really nice. Here's an idea for you: get cork board from Michale's or some other arts and crafts store, take java fern and gently push staples in to secure the plants to the board. Use aquarium safe silicon to stick to the back, and you will have a living background.

Yes, you can get a can of spray paint preferrably blue and black and paint the back of it or go to your nearest pet store that sells fish supplies and buy you a background to put on the back of it. There are alot of backgrounds that you can choose from.

I paint mine black with spray paint. I've tried blue and green, but they don't look as good as solid black. Fish and plant colors really pop with a dark background and substrate.

I doubt that any background would fool the fish. They`d swim towards the images and run straight into the glass. Just go to petsmart and buy a background that you like.

I actually have a fifty 5 gallon tank with a history and that i think of it seems particularly effective, it somewhat is greater effective than seeing the wall and the wires coming down the decrease back of the tank from the lights. it somewhat is all approximately your very own aesthetic. i might say choose for it, the fish might have something captivating to look at too :)

i too enjoy a black background. i prefer the black paper backings cause they aren't permenent. but painting works well if it's long term, or the only thing you like.
