I have just descovered something that is baffiling me. I have just got a bigger tank and filled it with water and all the usual stuff, rocks, plants ect. I have submerged the pump under water and on checking with an electric screwdriver have discoverd that the tank is showing that it has a current running through it??? When i touch the tank or the water I do not get a shock, can anyone explaine why this is. Thanks

Odds are high that from a submersible power head or the heater. You should be sure the plugs to the tank have a ground fault interupter plug installed and that it is well grounded. That mild current can turn lethal at any second.

Try also unplugging one item at the time and retesting the water. Eventually you will discover which item is lecking current and obviously that item should be replaced asap.

Probably the pump isn't supposed to go unnderwater. You have to be a little more specific: what type of pump is it? Air pumps aren't supposed to go underwater, but powerheads do.
