He tries to swim...but all he does are barrel rolls. He has been fine but the last week he has been very still....and won't really eat. Now he is having a huge issue with swimming. What could be wrong? He is not very old...it is my uncles tank and Oscar Fish.

I asked this question several minutes ago but didn't seem to show up...so reposting...sorry if it duplicates.

I found out last night it is ok to keep a community tank of female bettas (groups of 3 or more) and I was wondering, is it safe to have one male betta in with the group as well?

Am thinking of starting my own business of setting up aquariums and getting them started for people who either don't have the time or know how...or they are just lazy. What would I need to do this? I've done aquariums, both fresh and salt since I was about 10, so my knowledge is fairly high on how to set up tanks, but didn't know if anyone had an idea of equipment or tools I would need to have.

I was in discussion today with a friend who keeps tropical fish. It came to the subject of Marine fish and Brackish fish. Although I do understand some Brackish fish can live with Tropical Fish, but I I am absolutely certain that NO MARINE fish can live with tropical fish or Brackish fish? Or could they? Can anyone clear this up for me please and would be so grateful for a list of brackish fish or Marine fish which may live with tropical fish. THEN I CAN SHOW MY FRIEND! many thanks you are all very wonderful x

I have a 1800 gallon pond with a waterfall, and my friend has a 400 gallon pond. she is moving and she wanted to bring her 3 year old...10-12 inches long...goldfish to my pond which has some small gold fish and small koi. i test the water everyday and the nitrates, ph, alkalinity is fine. hwe pond was in shade and mine is in sun. i have about 60% of the pond covered for shade, i added some stress coat. back to my smaller fish, i have about five 4 inch gold fish and five 3inch koi. she brought over 5 of the larger gold fish and one has died and the others are not eating (they ate the first day they were there which was saturday) they aren't swimming around, just hanging on the bottom of the pond, hiding under the floating plants. her pond had no plants.
any advice would greatly be appreciated.

I've got 2 ten gallon tanks... I do weekly water changes, using a siphon to take water out, use conditioner, I don't think I overfeed... I treat both tanks the same, and both have different fish. But both tanks have cory's, 3 in each. I test my water every Tuesday, and change it every Wednesday. I haven't had an algae problem, I can't see ANY algae. All my fish seem happy, and I've even got guppy fry swimming in my guppy tank. None have been eaten yet, and they're probably 3 weeks old. Can a tank be too clean?

I cleaned my Fish tank tonight and i put my fish into a small fish tank while i was cleaning it and when i was about to put them back in the tank, my favorite fish was laying upside down on the bottom of the tank, not moving at all. I thought i might have saw him move but i wasn't sure so i just put them all back in the big tank. He floated vertically for at least 5 or more minutes not moving AT ALL! then all of a sudden it looked like his gills were moving and then he started swimming... he is still swimming and its been over 30 minutes, he is slower then normal but still swimming. Does anyone know what is wrong with him or if he is going to die?? he seems to be more alert as time goes by but its hard to tell. Does anyone know what is going on? Please, anyone have any experience with this?

I have a multicolored dragnet thing (one of the crazy colored ones) and it seems to be whitish in color in some spots on its body, kind of like a coat. Do they shed their skin at all? Is it about to die? Or does it have some kind of disease? It seemed to shed its skin a bit in the bag, so I don't know if that's it or what. None of the other fish show signs of the disease (if it is one) and I've had it for almost 2 weeks. I don't know if it could have possibly been stung by my condi-lactin anemone which caused the white spots, I'm not sure. Please help!

OK i was told when i set my tank up that crushed corals was the best way to go and here it is almost 2 months later and now i am being told that i need to remove all the coral and replace it with live sand . Now although i want the sand cuz i think it makes the tank look better i don't want to have to go through the trouble of replacing it if i dont have to . I was told that it would give me problems down the line and that it has slowed down my cycling process .what should i do??and i also want to know what type of organism grow on live rock ? i just got them and i would really like to know whats on it theres little pink worm lookin thing and little stringy plant lookin things and also these things that look like the bottom of a BIC pen that range from pink to purple in color and last there are these white cotton looking things. my tank is 75 gallons and is newly set up and i dont have any fish in it yet just the rock 3 crabs I hope this is enough info for some one to help..thx

I have had male betta's for nearly 20 yrs, but have been thinking about buying some females. Not for breeding or anything (from what I've read it's very tricky & the males still pick at & chase the females) However, I have read some websites that say the female can safely be in a community tank with other females with no problem, I've read other sites that say this is only true if they were all raised together. Still...I've read other sites that they fight as bad as the males......so has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks!
