I have a 2 clown fish. In the tank there is this rock for them to go into. One goes in and the other follows it. But when the other tries to go in the one in the rock freaks out and they both start going crazy by swimming around the tank?

To support MM here, if these are indeed your fish, clown loaches, they are not aggressive in nature by far. They are very peaceful fish, bottom level dwellers for the most part, that will grow out to around 12-16 inches. This link should help you the best if you do have Clown Loaches, very informative. My understanding of Clown Loaches though is you need to keep them in at least groups of five, and there will be one Alpha (dominant) Loach of that group, usually will be a female.

Do you mean MARINE clownfish, like Nemo?
Or do you mean Clown Loaches?

I don't know much about loaches, but if it is them, it sounds like a territorial spat. I advise getting another rock with a hole so they can each have their own. Maybe that will help. Also, research about your fish to try to learn more.

If these are clownfish, this is fighting for dominance. In a clownfish group, all fish start out as basicly sexless: pseudo-males with immature reproductive systems.
The 2 most dominant fish will be the only ones to become sexually mature. The most dominant will become a female and will grow to as big as 3.5 inches. The other will become a male and will grow to about 2.5 inches.
The rest will stay at 2 inches or less and remain in a "juvenile" stage sexually.

If your 2 fish are the same size, they will fight until one submits or until one dies. Once one submits to the other, they will sexually mature and pair, and the more dominant one will become a female and grow larger than the male.

The best way to avoid this type of fighting is to buy them at the same time and make sure there is a size difference. Not a -big- size difference, but enough of one to see.
The bigger one will still dominate the smaller, but there shouldn't be any actual fighting, and they will pair more quickly.

Look closely at them, if either is ripped up/bitten, etc, then I advise that you return them both and try for an exchange for 2 other ones with a notable size difference.

And please spend some time learning more about your fish.

The ROCK freaks out? I'm assuming you mean that the fish freaks out? :) Well, if you DO mean that the fish get freaked out, maybe it's because they're touching each other w/ their fins, etc, and that frightens them, causing the fish to swim crazily around the tank? I used to have two goldfish and they couldn't touch--if they touched each other, they would jump back. Hope this helps!

I assume you mean freshwater clown loaches.

One simply wants the rock to himself and the other wants to squeeze in there too and that causes the reaction you see each time. Its nothing to worry about and they will eventually come to terms about it.

you can try to remove the rock from the tank and see if that works, you can also try to get a different type of hiding area and see how it works i would prefer to have a plant in the tank to see how they like it .

dont listen to the other guy what seems to be happing is that it would appear as though they are playing.thats one guess. My other guess would be that It might need some space and it is trying to get away form the other one,add some more rocks see if your fish feels safe

They could very well be playing with eachother, yet they could frighten each other. If one is bigger than the other, they could be trying to show who's territory that is. More than likely they are just playing though

Establishing dominance. Being territorial.

They might be getting claustrophobic, and never mind the brainless poop that left you the dumb answer. Consider the source.
