There are pros and cons of each. For the present tank, you're mixing New and Old World cichlids which have different water requirements (the yellow should be in hard, alkaline water and the firemouths prefer softer acidic water, but I've found them to be pretty adaptable) and have different temperments (the yellow should be more aggressive as an adult than the firemouths), and both species should be kept in a larger tank adults (they'll get 5-6 inches), but both of these species are easy to keep.

The rams are better suited to the size of your tank, but are more sensitive to water quality and are pickier about the chemistry, so these might be a little harder, depending on your experience at fishkeeping and committment to tank maintenance.

I'd go with the rams because they are much more peaceful, smaller, and they can get along with other fish.

But it's really up to you. Electric Yellow and Firemouth Cichlids are very colorful, but Rams have lots of color to them.

I would go with the rams, its much better than the cichlids because they need atleast 20gallons each.

Even tho the rams are cichlids they need way less tank space since its usually 20gallons each the rams need around 5 to 10gallons

You can put around 2-4rams and have caves so they have their own hiding spot.

Its your choice.
