He tries to swim...but all he does are barrel rolls. He has been fine but the last week he has been very still....and won't really eat. Now he is having a huge issue with swimming. What could be wrong? He is not very old...it is my uncles tank and Oscar Fish.

He also has some sort of goo covering his entire body. None of the other fish have this...in fact they are all doing just fine.

Thanks for the kind words Jon V and the link

Ditto to Carl S, that would be my first call too. It's a long shot, but you can try a combination treatment of a strong antibiotic,(such as Cipro or Furanase) and Copper (such as coppersafe). Those appear to have successfully treated this problem before, but as I say, it's a real long shot.

Sorry and best of luck

Is his body beginning to thin out so that his head is much larger then the body? I got some baby Oscars, about 2 inches long a few months ago and they continually developed this. I am not sure if it's just a weak fish or maybe carrying an internal parasite that prevents them from eating, but I've lost about four of them in a short span so I stopped trying to raise them. I'm sure MM or copperhead will stop in and I'd listen to them on disease.

This sounds like Ichthyophonus fungi (NOT to be confussed with ich).

Unfortuanately this is usually untreatable, and prevention is the best treatment for others.
Ichthyophonus generally affects fish as an internal fungus , often attacking vital organs such as the liver, kidneys, brain and sometines the muscles.

I would read more about this disease here:

EDIT:
The above link provides information about occasionally successful treatment methods that include a medicated bath and an in tank "cocktail" treatment.

20% water adjustments each third day is very extreme. you will possibly desire to do 15% water adjustments a week or 25% water adjustments each month, reckoning on how the water tiers are finding at. Default question: are your water parameters are effective? verify your PH, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. attempt to jot down down each and all of the indicators your fish has apart from heavy respiratory -- my suspicion is that your fish is under pressure from each and all of the water adjustments and is getting ill from it. good luck!

It sounds like he's got a fungal disease and is serious, the best advice I can give is to ask some one in the aquarium shop and if they have got a cure for it.
