- 8 Comet Goldfishes
- 3 Weeks old in my aquarium
- 30 Gallon Tank
- 30 Gallon + 60 Gallon Filters

I think the largest one is about 3 inches long. How come some have really big tail fins and some have smaller ones?

Hey do you know how long approximately it will take for them to outgrow the tank?

They look like they are doing great. I'm sure you already know, but I'll repeat it for other readers, your fish will eventually outgrow your tank. Even one comet will get too long to be comfortable in a 30 gallon tank. As they get larger, I would suggest you slowly thin them out and replace the comets with fancy goldfish (the thicker bodied fish) and keep 3-4 of those in your tank. They will fit well and be far more comfortable in the long run.

Tail length is genetic. Years ago and sometimes even now you see them separated and called commons (short tail) and comets ( long tail).

Great job on the tank!
