When I came in 2 hours later, he was white in the fins and some of the body and dead. He was always so active and healthy. He was only 5 months old. what happened to my baby?

that's an outstanding existence for a betta. i've got heard of them living for quite a few years longer, yet 4 isn't too undesirable in any respect, extraordinarily if he grew to become into considered one of your first fish. this is completely wide-spread so you may be disenchanted approximately Finster's loss of life. you will probable be down for a on an analogous time as, yet getting yet another fish might cheer you up. whenever you experience waiting to get yet another fish is the final time to get one :) in case you desire, you need to draw a image of Finster (considering which you haven't any longer have been given photographs of him) and shade it to look like him. whether you at the instant are not an artist, in case you like it and it makes you experience greater powerful approximately his loss of life, then this is nice. I draw my fish each and every of the time :) this is no longer "inhumane" to flush a ineffective fish down the lavatory, because of the fact the animal is ineffective and additionally you at the instant are not inflicting it soreness. additionally, i've got heard that flushing fish may be undesirable because of the fact there's a danger of introducing illnesses to wild populations of fish. i individually do no longer flush them.

Did you change all the water at once? Maybe he was still recovering from his sickness, and the added stress of a water change was enough to put him over the edge.
