This morning my huge angelfish was just sitting on the bottom of the tank not moving. He looked dead so I poked him with the fish net. He started doing loops and floating on top of the water. I thought he was dying. Then he just started swimming normally and ate when I fed him. I'm at work now. Will he be dead when I get home or was he just asleep or something?

I have been searching the internet all morning and love clown (tiger)plecostomus. I read up on them until I ran out of things I didn't know about them. I read that the smallest tank size is 10gallons(mine is 10.38). That they are easy to take care of(as in they just eat off the bottom of the tank). I also read that they reach a maximum size of 3-4 inches. The thing I didn't read is if they get along with the following fish: Peppered corydoras, australian rainbow, and otocinclus. I have all of those in my tank, and I really want the plecostomus so could I get one? I am also going to upgrade the plecostomus to a 15 or 20 gallon tank sometime in September. That way by the time it starts growing it will have more room. So would it be okay to purchase one in about 5 days?

I have 3 fantail godfish inside the tank. Someone has told me that an air pump provides a better environment for the fish. The tank is situated in my room so the pump must be rather silent and not have that irritating humming noise. I can withstand the filter noise but anything worse drives me crazy!
What do you suggest?

Anyone had experience keeping them together? I was thinking of putting a small shoal of 4 rasboras as well as one male betta in a 5 gallon tank. The other option is a shoal of 4 white mountain cloud minnows. Any thoughts? Is this overstocking or would I be able to fit in a larger shoal to make them more comfortable?

I have 3 fantail goldfish and I was wondering when the best time to feed them is. I don't think it really matters but I was just wondering.
Is it better to feed them in the morning or at night?

None of my other fish have a problem swimming, eating or interacting with the other fish. One of my female guppies, looks like she has a "broken back." She just looks bent sideways, and when she swims, she swims irradically, like a crazy person... Then she hides in my driftwood, or in the corner by the filter. But like I said, none of my other fish seem to have anything wrong. The colors look good and they swim good. Helpmeh please. Thanks

At the time my molly was very healthy, i started noticing a tiny area of shiny aquarish blue colour on its tail, it looked very pretty, its like how some fishes scales shine.
I'm not so sure if it is a black molly or sailfin, coz i think i got it when it was quite young that i didn't notice a big sailfin, but now asit is maturing ive noticed hes got more fatter and bigger fins and thats when i thought, maybe its a sailfin molly?!
no wonder whenever i searched up black mollys it always came up with lyretail mollys, when my molly didn't have a lyretail. (i think thats how u spell it, forgive me for my bad spelling =D )
So would its breed of molly effect if it changes colour as it matures? It is eating well and is very active and healthy.
And it has been getting a yellowish gold rim on its sailfin.
(its not the disease that makes it go goldy and rusty)

I am very curious hmm... =]

I have 3 goldfish and have noticed the past few days that every once and a while they will just start swimming out of control and then swim to the bottom of the tank and rub their sides on the rocks almost as if they are scratching themselves. I have looked them over and do not see anything on their scales and was wondering if any of you had any ideas as to what it might be. Thank you for you time.

My larger female opaline gourami has been looking ackwardly chubby as of late. I bought her from the pet store about a week ago and when i purchased her she did seem 'fat'. The other (female i'm pretty sure) opaline gourami does not have this symptom, and i'm speculating that she may be pregnant. I have a place for her to go and food prepared as well. I have no male in my tank.

1. If she is pregnant and i seperate her will she lay the eggs without a nest made by a male? How would i care for the eggs??

2. If yes will the eggs survive in my care?

3. If the eggs survive and hatch, will the babies be bothered by other babies (as i have a red wag platy preparing for birth in the same seperate area)?

4. How do i tell when a female gourami is pregnant?

5. When do they spawn?

My son has a goldfish that has pillow like sacks around his eyes. We bought him like that. He is so cute.
One day one of his pillows popped. Next day it inflated again.
The following day he started to swim upside down.
Why is he/she doing this?
He/she is swimming fine now.
What are in the pillows around his eyes?

I know this has been asked alot, but I hope someone can clarify this for me.
I'm going to try to add 2 tablespoon per 10 gallon. I know salt doesn't evaporate, so when I do partial water changes, how do I know the correct amount of salt to add for the salt loss? (Use a hydrometer? I'm going to mix the salt with de-chlorinated water before adding it into the tank, but how slowly am I supposed to add the salted water? (Drops, spoonfuls, cupfuls?) And finally, is adding salt to my tank a huge maintenance? School and work and the alike. Thanks!

We have these neat snails that bop around in the water. I'm not sure what they are; they have spiral shells and I believe they have live births. They don't lay eggs.
