Have you tried Epsom salt yet? No guarantee that will work, but it could be your next step before trying something which might be more expensive or problematic. Use 1/8 teaspoon per 5 gallons of water. Also make sure you're doing frequent water changes of about 25% each week, and use a siphon to clean the gravel. Some cases can be caused by too high of nitrates from the waste building up in the gravel.

If neither of these work, there may be an internal infection, caused by either bacteria or parasites. A final possibility is that the fish has a problem called flipover. For this, you really should see someone experienced in animal care to treat, because it involves puncturing the swim bladder, and the problem may recur in the future.

With some goldfish this problem develops because the breeding of strange goldfish body shapes mean their internal body organs aren't exactly as they should be. this means if they eat too much in a meal it can cause this tilting action. try feeding really small meals 5-6 times a day so as to ease the internal pressure and right your fish. good luck

I some times feed my goldfish small bits of fresh garlic. Garlic is a natural antibiotic and my goldfish eat it and they stay healthy. I don't feed it to them alot though. It's worth a try.

You might want to try a really high-quality food only once a day. Have you tried Pro-Gold? You can get it at http://www.goldfishconnection.com .
