Thanks a million guys .....Ash , Mark and the last person .You guys are great helpers in time of stress.

I don;t know how to choose a best answer, I mean you all are perfect here .

Now this is what I have done so far , its not the first time I changed water this is my second tank and I always foloow thumb rules like chaging not more than 1/3 and adding water neutrilizer that I always buy from petsmart (it smells like hell .... ) . So it wasn;t frst time I was changing water for this fish. Since I freaked out I found a bottle of Pimofix and THANKED GOD and added a table spoon in the water.

Also now she looks like in control a bit , she is sitting down (properly) not like mouth down and tail straight up. So Ia m thinking she is recovering but far from her real state.

Also the stress should have affected the male too which is perfecly normal and is laughing and touching the ill mate ^-^ waiting for it to be dead so that he can start eating the scales.

Thanks a Million

I just saw your video and she has no obvious signs of beeing sick
But I think she is in shock after the waterchange
I hope you didn't take her out and did a complete waterchange
You're suppose to do only partial weekly waterchanges of 25% with a gravelsiphon

Anyway, try to turn up the temperature about 4 degrees and add aquarium salt as soon as you can get one, or if you have salt at home check if it is iodion free, and you can use that for treatment, about 1 tablespoon on 5 gallons

Hope that helps
Good luck

I have to agree that platys die for no aparent reason sometimes and i'm sorry but it looks like she is headed that way. I DID LIKE THE FACT THAT SHE'S NOT ON HER SIDE(thats the true death position) because that means there still may be some hope if you act soon.

You did say one thing that might actually be a good reason for the way she is acting. The fact that you changed the water yesterday and now she's acting this way tells me it had something to do with the water change. Water changes can really screw up a smaller fish tank if not done correctly. A good rule of thumb is to never change more than 1/3rd the water at a time. Aquarium water is nothing like the tap water you prolly use to refill it. Aquarium water contains a balance of chemicals and nutrients vital to your fishes health. Changing to much can greatly disrupt this and have adverse effects on your fish. The single biggest thing to watch for is CLORINE. Unless there is no clorine in your tap water you need to add chemicals to neutralize it(i use start right). IF YOU DID NOT DO THIS DO SO IMEDIATLY. Your fish could be suffering from clorine overdose and might be saveble if you act now(don't over do it on the chemicals - to much is bad too).

Another thing that could be happening is your platy might be in shock. If you added the clorine neutralizer then try turning off the tank light and staying away. Still check up on her but leave the light off as this will have a camling effect. Shock can be caused from tempurature changes, lighting changes, even stepping hard near the tank.

THE SINGLE BIGGEST THING TO REMEBER is it's ok for your fish to die. It happens to all of us and it hurts sometimes. But don't forget to learn from this and apply what you learned to new fish. ( I would also recomend getting some fake plants so your fish fell more at home. Also those shiny things in the tank tend to stress fish out so try to limit that in the future)

My computer would not read your video but based on the description it does sound like your platy is dying. These fish do have a high mortality rate and sometimes they just die. I know it is sad but I wouldn't feel too bad. It doesn't sound to me like you did anything wrong from your description, and if she does not show any signs of disease, which it sounds like she doesn't, I would have to say it is just her time to go. It doesn't sound that she is suffering terribly so I would just let her die as she's ready rather than euthanize her. Death is unfortunately a part of life in this hobby and will inevitably happen at some point or another.

I'm glad your platy is doing better

May I just ask what kind of conditioner you're using?
Because we use "Aqua Safe" and it has no smell what so ever, I'm just kind of really wondering
