The gestation period is 28 days for any livebearer
And they can have babies up to 6 months after beeing together with a male once, since they can store sperm for that long
Just feed them with "First Bites" or grinded flake food
And get lots of live plants for the babies to hide in, I personally prefer to leave them in the main tank with my plants because they grow much faster and healthier in there then in a breeder

Hope that helps
Good luck

I think it takes about a month for your platy to have her babies. If you care about keeping the babies you will need to go to the pet store, Wal-mart, somewhere and get a container specifically for this situation. It should have slats in it so that when she has the babies (because I think that these fish are live bearers) they fall down to the bottom. When shes done you take her out, leave them in. This is the best way to take care of your new fish. Leave them in the container until they are larger and more able to fend for themselves. If not the mother and any other fish you have will eat the babies. Good luck!
