The problem is that Male Betta's cannot be housed with other Betta's, period. That is the issue. You only want to put a female in with a male when you are trying to breed them, and after they are properly conditioned. Male Betta's will become aggressive towards any other Betta no matter what. Even during the breeding process, it's very physical and sometimes violent. There isn't a problem, it's just the nature of Betta's and you would want to house your female in a different tank. Females have a much better ability to live in community tanks then males.

You cannot keep male Bettas with male or female Bettas. They should only be kept together in a spawning situation in which case they must be carefully conditioned to breed. Please research your fish before you kill any more. Try this site, there are a lot of good answers here http://fishlesscycling.com/forum/index.php.

Geeze, didn't they tell you at the petstore that you can't keep a MALE and a FEMALE together?
The only time you can put them together is if you want to breed them, and then only for a short period of time

It's a big NO NO, to put female and male together, as well as putting 2 males together

The only ones that can coexist are at LEAST 3 females in a minimum of a 10 gallon tank ( that is actually proven)

Hope that helps
Good luck

Part of the breeding ritual, which you have witnessed, in Betta's is that a female comes into a males territory and the male is to chase her away and begin working on his bubble nest. If the female has nowhere to go this can cause a real problem for either one. (I've actually lost more males to females then the vice versa)

No! You cannot put even males and females together unless it is breeding time: the male has built a bubble nest and female is fat with eggs. Male and Female bettas STILL WILL fight! They will kill each other okay nobody will understand this nomatter how many times we say it.. :\ take the female back if you can or buy a different container/bowl to put her in. :] good luck

You cannot put males and females together unless it is for breeding purposes. If the female does not want to breed, the male will get aggressive and attack her. You need to keep them in seperate tanks. If you were trying to breed them, you need to do more research. It is a lengthy process and you will need to condition your fish first.

could be the male thinks its another male sometimes (especially if you buy them from wal mart)you get males instead of females or like i said it could just be the male thinks its another male instead of a female just separate them

The male probably thought the female was another male.

its normal, bettas usually don't like each other, no matter what the sex is but if you want them to breed then you could get a breeding trap (i think that's what its called) from petsmart or petco

you can't put them together because you obviously didn't look up how to spawn (breed) bettas.
